Hello.I'm going to buy a new gaming PC.Do I need an i7 5820k and DDR4 memory or i7 4790k and 8-16GB DDR3 is enough?

I'm going to buy this:
CPU: Intel core i7 4790k
VGA: 2xMSI Radeon R9 280
MOBO: ASUS Z97-K
FAN: Cooler Master Seidon 120M
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200rpm
SSD: Intel 530-series 120GB

Is it good? Can I play the latest games between 3-4 years?

There really isnt much point in going for the 5820k on the x99 socket, as it is quite expensive and if you were to get the 4790k and overclock it, you should have a good CPU that will last for some time.

also maybe check out the Nvidia 700 series cards, I hear they are getting significant price cuts to clear out the old stock.

If its a gaming pc you don't need an i7. Your best bet would be to get an i5, 8gb ram and a GTX 970 instead. You also won't need a as powerful PSU. Alternatively if you don't mind waiting a bit you could wait to see what AMD release for their new gen.

The 5830k is very tempting to the gearhead and to the sensible buyer if they wanted to run 3x gfx cards (would all run at pcie 3.0 x8) - but otherwise the 4790k is more than enough. There are games coming out that show a small advantage for the i7 over the i5, enough to convince me that it's worth the difference in price for a system built with a view to the future (cf, Metro Last Light)

I would put the money you save by not going for x99 into better gfx cards. Why not go for a pair of 780ti? They've dropped in price to £350 a piece.

My experience of crossfire has not been good at all.

How much of a difference though?

But seriously if you just want to game take the i7 if you are on a budget take an i5 if you want a better Graphicscard take the i5 and a gtx970 , simple aye?

Its not worth the difference one bit.

Its like getting very fast ram, the FPS isn't worth the extra. It'll probably change if its a multiple card deal but pretty much every game doesn't make use of the quad core i7ses extra grunt.

If it was me and I had that sort of budget, I would be looking at an i5 and a 780/970? The 780 recently came down to an insanely good price for the performance and the i5 will probably be as good for you as the i7.

I'd spend the extra on a 980 and go with the i7 4790k and 16gb of nicely matched ram... it'll blast through this generation of games, and next gen ones on newer API's perfectly well in 'normal' resolutions.

The 4790k will last very long for sure, I mean there are still people out there who game perfectly on a i7 2700k so your 4790k will last long enough ;) and if you need more graphics power later (in 2-3 years) there is still the SLI option
