i5 760 upgrade

Hello, I've just got a quick question. I've got the Intel i5 760 and it's overclocked too 3.6GHz, I was looking at the i5 2500k and thought that would be cool to get.

Is it worth me getting the 2500k, or would I just be wasting my money on something that I don't need for another couple of years.

Also it would mean that I would need to buy a new motherboard as well.

Thanks.

Depends how old it is, and how happy you are with it really. The general consensus is a new setup every 2/3 years.

If it's working okay, and you've only had it for a few months or so, I'd probably stick with it until this time next year, as there's other things coming. Take a look at an SSD drive or a better graphics card maybe?

If you're really not happy with the processor, you could grab an i7 870 for about £220, and that'll pop straight into the 1156 board. Personally, if I had that and it did what I needed it to do, I'd stick with for a bit and wait for the next big thing, Intel's Ivy Bridge or AMD's Bulldozer.

Totally agree, its nice to have the fastest lastest thing, but if you are happy with what you've got then stick with it until you just can't live without updating it.
