I5 2500k temps

Hi guys , I recently built my first build which contains a i5 2500k with a p67 pro mobo , dh14 cooler , 560ti , and 4gb.

However I decided to overclock it to 4.5Ghz and I'm getting temps of around 37-39 when just surfing the web . Is that right ?

Has it got anything to do with the overclock ?

Thanks

Those temps are hotter than what they should be, I did tell you about three times on PM last night. As I said i'm running at 4.6ghz and at 1.37 volts and my idle temps are only ~30c. It's probably because you have your Noctua facing the GPU and you are getting higher temps because it's sucking in the warm air from the GPU.

Just to show you those temps are higher than they should be..

I down clocked to 4.5ghz and ran idle just browsing the internet for half an hour. The core that is running at 33 is always hotter than the others and as you can see I am under 30c and the fan profile is set to silent if I set it to turbo temps would be 1-2c lower.

What is your ambient temperature? Do you have the D14 mounted, so it is facing the front and back of your case with the two fans? Because if you don't, it will just draw the warmer air from your video card.

He has a D14 and it's facing the GPU, his ambient temps are 20c.

I have been helping him on PM (over 250 PMs) and I have tried explained to him about turning the D14 around but he just won't listen I even told him before he finished building his PC two days ago it would cause higher temps.

Hello sieb , I appreciate all the help you have given me , without your help , my first build woulnt have came together

.

I did say to you that I will change the location of the dh14 at a later date ; I just wanted to see how it went , however now that it's causing problems , I guess it will be a job for the weekend.

I didn't doubt your advice at any time what so ever , just wanted to get other views to see if the temps were being caused by the oc.

I have removed the OC and I'm still getting temps of 32-40. In the mean time is it ok to still use the system like this until the weekend ?

My system has switched itself off twice today and has been logged in event viewer as critical error .

You need to turn the D14 around ASAP and reapply the thermal pate, your PC is definietly overheating, your temps should be ~30c idle even when overclocked you should only have ~30c idle as you can see from my screenshot. Make sure you clean all the thermal paste off before reapplying it though.

I have removed the OC and getting temps between 34-40 , so is it dangerous to run the pc like that till the weekend ?

It's not dangerous but if your PC keeps shutting down i'd say it's because it's overheating. You should be alright but the sooner you do it the better really.
