I need to overclock

Good day to all,

i need to overclock my AMD athlon 64 x2 dual core 5200+,i have the following specs:
MOBO: Biostar TF570 SLI A2
RAM: 4x1Gb
PSU: ISONIC 500W
GPU: nvidia 9600GT 1Gb
CPU: AMD athlon 64 x2 5200+

Now i see my CPU must run 2.6Ghz stock but it's running at 2.7Ghz (can it be my MOBO maybe)

i will like to run the CPU at 3.0Ghz stable on the stock cooler if that is ok (don't have money for a new cooler)

do you guys maybe know what stable temps are at full load,i am running at 60C idling is that bad?

on the bios there is a overclocking panel with options of Manuel,V6,V8,V12, if i go with the V6 i get lower clock speeds,if i set it to V8 and V12 i get i bios warning when i restart my PC saying voltage to high go to bios and change,Now what can i do to get the 3.0Ghz out of my CPU and how do i do it,i'm neeew to OC'ing a CPU but will like to learn.
Where will i start of with this?

Thanks for helping.

First do this at your own risk its been years since i played with a brisbane chip. Clean your heatsink first. Replace the TIM.

Disable Cool And Quiet tech in the Bios then set
HTT 4
Vcore 1.4'ish should do
FSB 266
Multi 11 then test, then try 12
Dont let you memory go above 800 (i assume its generic ddr2)

Maybe it is your memory that is stopping you as well.
Perhaps try with just one stick installed.
About 3.1ghz would be the max you would get out of it.
Either way if you want your system to be faster, get yourself and ssd.
Those cpu's are tired and are just too long in the tooth. As with your gpu.
Even though you only have sata2 a ssd would be worth every penny.
Best of luck buddy.

60c idle is terrible for your CPU.

You cant overclock with it like that. You NEED a new cooler and new thermal paste.

if you dont have the money dont touch it.

Hi thanks for replying guys,

i have looked at some coolers (AIR) and i have seen a cpu cooler that look if it can do the job,now in the Description of this cooler it says AMx support now is that AM2/AM2+ or is it something different then that and will it run the 3.1Ghz stable and do i need better Thermal past if i get this cooler?

it's R130 (Rand) that's 9.50 (Pound)

Thanks again for helping me - this forum is grate have been looking at the TTL vid on youtube and The Guvnor talked about the CCCC (Custom Corsair Christmas Compo) and i said to myself i will join because i need a new Pc and that pc specs are the once i dream about to the T.

Have a grate day to all.

I think it means that it works with any AM board (ex: AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+ ). 60C idle temp is noooot goooood, beware.
