Well since my bday is in June and i will be working i will have about $500 to spend in the beginning of July. What should i spend this money on? New processor, ram? C2D, ram, and mobo? 8800GTS and PSU? Any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Can you overclock ur CPU at all?

if ur PSU can handle it, i think u should get 2gb of ram and a 8800gts, or 8600gts

If you dont need dual core ... then 8800 + RAM [IMHO] + a PSU if required

IF u need all 3 and dont have the cash ... Ebay 1950 pro/XTX (still a gr8 card .. but u prob want DX10) + RAM

OH and also .. More HDD space ... 80G,Im surprised u have soldiered on with that -- I filled 320 in 2 weeks (oh and a newer 1 will give a performance boost)

Dont spend it on computer bits, Spend it on going on and meeting new people!

I was thinking about spending it on a new keyboard and an external HD and just waiting a year or 2 then ill upgrade my whole computer.

How about an 8600GTS, ram and PSU?

If i do buy a Gfx card i want to get something that is good and will last me a couple years. But then again i will be able to afford it.

can u get rid of your old hardware ??? if so then there are a few options for you

1) C2D rig : a) E4300 : http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?p=E4...539d66fc98a08f95759a88d7865159d9bfd270818d27f

b) Biostar Tforce P965 board : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138039

c) Crucial Ballistic : http://www.buy.com/prod/crucial-2gb.../loc/101/202541818.html?adid=17662&adid=17662

d) Hold onto that vga card and wait till the ATI series are launched and the prices drop , then get the best one in the market .

e) PSU : http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/power_supply/hp-580ap.asp ( PM me for coupon code ) .

That should hold you off for a while. For the E4300 , there is a mod that you can do with a circuit writer pen that lets it boot at 1066 mhz stock fsb. So make sure ur proc can do that ( test is manually while ocing it ) and then mod it so that you have a higher speed proc for a lower price stock and then you have a higher multi , which will let you oc even higher. Cooling is really upto you.

hey mate... guys I think this guy is looking for a cost effective solution (who isnt)... I would say choose improvements that you really notice... the 8800's are future safe as you mentioned... and everyone that has taken one has been so pleased... all you need is at least good two year warantee and a good value on an 8800... im looking at buying one for £180.00 - £190.00ex VAT and as Ive seen thats a great price for a 8800gts 640MB/320BIT!

As far as the ram goes.. i would say just find a good price there are loads of different bundles out there... if your system supports dual channel you DO notice the difference its always worth having more random space!!!!!!
