I just downloaded CPUZ what would be a good temperature monitoring program?

I made the switch from everest to cpuz because I noticed it is what a lot of you use and it looks like it would be easier to use when I start overclocking. So my question is, what should I use to monitor my temps?

Motherboard monitor 5.

Hey blaw blaw, I see yoru from NJ as well, if you got AIM send me a PM if you could.

Otherwise, motherboard monitor takes the reading from the motherboard sensor and therefore isnt very useful if the sensor is bad. I suggest getting a thermometer if you plan on doing serious oc'ing (like a fluke 51 or dt150) and putting the probe in the base of the heatsink via a pin drill and thermal compound.

I use ITE Smart Guardian on my DFI as well as MBM5. Both work well and are accurate. A thermal probe is probably better but when I checked temps with one my mobo sensor was spot on :)

Stick you hand on your HS. If it burns you you need to do somthing.

Yes i do this... what!

Back to the point. Tbh i always found everest Ultimate edition to be best. It seems to react quicker than any other and has been closest to the BIOS reading and the 'warm the touch' test.

Speedfans graphs are VERY usful for finding your load temps, as the benches that stress most are often full screen.

MBM5 doesn't support newer motherboards. The only modern ones it supports are the DFI lanparty ones because someone coded custom CFG files for them. I reccomend using your motherboard manufacturers monitoring program such as ASUS PC Probe, MSI Core Center, etc etc. If your motherboerd manufacturer lacks one, I reccomend SpeedFan.

Speedfan is good too. It can track temps and draw graphs, plus provides lots of good info about your hard drive SMART readings.

i will not say what i think about speedfan as no one in here would like the language :/

on 2 different motherboards speedfan keept slowing down the fans until they more or less didnt turn at all.

happened in over 5 different versions and doesnt matter what what settings i change it still turns down the speed of the fans connected to the motherboard.

even happened on a new fresh installed windows too so no other program was interfering with speedfan.

= your computer is retarded

been using everest for a month or so and works fine for me.

in the systray i can se the speed of both cpu and chipset fan.

temps on both my harddrives and also gpu temp and cpu temp.

also case temp and motherboard temp is shown.

uses 15-16mb memory and 13mb virtual memory.

explain in detail WHY instead of coming with abusive comments about somehting you dont seem to know anything about??????

Its a joke, chill.

Appologies kemp, i shal be constructive to make up for it.

ASUS PC probe is pretty useful, you can set alarms and what-not to desired limit. It did seem to have a little problem reading my Vcore

Everest UE has a load of little tricks up its sleeve that are hard to find, like the temp readout overlay, a little on the slow side in terms of loading and initial readings

Speedfan is ok, never been a big fan of it so i havent really played with it to see how much it can really do, useful for drawing up charts and graphs though

Your BIOS is the best place to cross-reference the readings from these programs to see if theyre accurate (this only really works if your machine is fast on restart tho)

For your graphics (not sure if youre OCing in that area) you cant beat RivaTuner, does the lot

there you go, one constructive round-up :)

Ok correct me if im wrong. But Speedfans primary function is to allow you to control the speed of your fans through software, Hence the name. So it was doing its job. You must not have had it set up correctly or somthing.

Temp monitoring, SMART stuff etc was just extra.

can you then explain why speedfan on one occasion ran fine for 2 days and then suddenly lowered fan speed on both chipset and cpu to 0 and then starts to beep about excessive temperatures ???

the program is supposed to set fan speeds to 100% when shutdown, it doesnt.

most reading it shows is way off, vbat isnt 0 12v rail doesnt fluctuate 11.45-12.80v and 5v isnt 4.8v and 3.3v rail isnt 3.13v

its also possible to configure the program to not touch the fan speeds but for some reason the program ran over the settings i made.
