I HATE Esate Agents!

Rant thread, sorry.

Went to view a lovely house today, was assured we were the first to view the house (and only people), turned up and there was 2 couples there ready to view the house at the same time as us. When we arrived the guy said "Erm, are you 2 here to view the house" in a tone to imply because we are young, we couldn't possibly mature enough to rent a house.

Anyway walking around he kept constantly reminding us that we have to pay this and that, seems to be making all these presumptions that we are just here for fun.

The guy was sharp and rude, "can we see the garage" we said and he replied "why?" "i dont know if i have the key". Just show me the ******* garage, i don't care if you cant be arsed.

So we ask him, does the house accept pets and he goes "oh god, what animal do you have" i say "4 year old Labrador" to which he replies "oh he is still in that chewing stage" and i say "Not sure about your dogs but our dog stopped chewing at 6 months old" and he says "well all dogs never really grow out of it" So not only did he not answer my question but he presumed my dog chews. Arrogant ****.

There was a few other things, but the rage is blocking out rational thinking.

It seems to me that all estate agents just don't care about anything, they turn up, open the door and lie to you all the way around. The entire business seems to be based around making enough money to keep the employees paid and anything else is just ignored.

They discriminate against young people, couldn't give a damn about you as people and abide by no ethical code at all.

All the women are fake tanned, all the men are artificially enhanced like skittles and all arrogant ********.

Is it so hard to be nice, to answer the phone, be polite and honest, show people around the house politely and be happy to do so, to be happy to answer your questions and be willing to help you get the house.

RAGE!

ATM with letting they have it sewn up, they can take or leave you. Obviously that's no excuse for bad manners. Its so hard to get a mortgage that everyone's renting.

I have at the age of 39 only just bought my first property and have had noting but chew with letting agents. The better way is to privately let from a sole landlord, through the legal channels ofc ( contract, bonds, inventory's )

Going through an agent means they have a sole purpose and goal to shaft as much money from you as possible.

I've had my house for 4 months now and only yesterday have I received my bond back after threatening legal action.

Dude don't worry, they're the same to everyone!

Liars, rude and just take as much money as they can squeeze out of your bank accounts! My and my house mates just moved from around the corner (with a different agency, but this time we went direct to a landlady). Our old house was promised to be rid of damp over the summer, new sofa and chairs as well as chairs for each room (the ones supplied were either broken or non existent!) Of course when we moved in, none of the above was sorted out. Took over half a year to get rid of the mold growing in the living room and one of the bedrooms, possibly longer. Never had any chairs replaced or given, and neither was the seating area int he living room sorted.

Then, once we moved out and had our final house cleaning assessment, they took off us just under 300 quid for specific damages, that most of the things were either ridiculously priced (missing shower curtain - 40 quid! not sure where they were buying them from!) or not even our fault (missing blinds in kitchen - were removed by builders who were sorting out the mold issues).

So even though it's not the same situation as yours, at the end of the day, the conclusion is mutual! Estate agency's are crap!
