I am stuck pls help

I just got the parts today and started bulding my pc, upon completion when i Started up the pc all the Fans started working fora secod then the whole pc shut down, I have tried a lots of things Currently I have only the front panel LED, Reset and Power Button Connected to the motherboard.

It still does the same, Any idea what may be wrong, Friend of mine said the Motherboard is faulty.

pull the board out of the case and power it on outside and see if it boots if it does most likely something inside the case is shorting it out.

Its a really simple thing but have you connected the CPU_PWR socket up? (the 4pin or 8pin)

Yeah I was a noob and forgot to connect the 8pin Power Up for the CPu and only connected the 24 pin for the Mobo. Took me two hours to discover it....

I once spent 3 hours wondering why a system I built wouldn't turn on, turned out I'd got the reset and power headers the wrong way round Ooops simple mistakes but we learned a valuable lesson that day.

I remember building a rig for a guy showing it off at my house and letting him drive home to find it didn't work anymore. when i came to try and fix it it took me 15 minutes to realise he didn't turn on the switch of his psu when he got back to his house.
