Help with beeping noice from PC - NOT a beep code!

Hi all,

I'm at my wits end with this one.

My PC is making a beeping noise. Nothing unusual there, I hear you say, BIOS beep codes are common. But, this is weird because I don't have a speaker on my motherboard.

Every three minutes it makes ten very very faint beeps, each beep lasts for one second and there is a one second gap between them.

At first I thought it was a warning beep from my motherboard telling me something was wrong, so I ran HWmonitor and checked for any voltages or temperatures doing weird things, and there's nothing. After checking this several times, I disconnected the speaker from the motherboard header.

IT'S STILL DOING IT.

I have absolutely no idea how, it's not coming from my headset, I don't have any speakers connected to my PC, even the monitor volume is at zero.

My spec is below, the only components not listed are the case (Bitfenix Neos), the PSU (EVGA G2 650W), the CPU cooler (Coolermaster Hyper 212 Evo) and the fans (3 x Bitfenix Spectre LED PWM)

Does anyone know if any of these components are capable of beeping, and if so, why are they doing it? I've tried listening to each part when it beeps but it's as if the beep is coming from the entire system as a whole!

There are ghosts in there...

Without hearing it in person i really have no idea. It could be anything. PSU coil whine, HDD on its dying breath, wobbly fan catching on something, or fan bearings giving up. You need to get someone skilled to listen, and check.

All of those noises would either be constant, or randomly created, whereas the noise I get is ten beeps every three minutes.

I think it is ghosts.

Nope, no UPS, just the mains.

You want to hear something REALLY annoying?

Since posting this thread, it's stopped.

I'm going to book myself in for a checkup from the neck up.

Silly question: does your monitor have speakers you weren't aware of? I bought a 35" AOC curved panel, and much to my surprise, it has speakers I didn't even notice. Well until I booted the system without my usual speakers connected, then I got a surprise when I actually heard sound!
