HP Motherboard question

Hello Everyone

I need some help please. I picked up a server for free from work which was being thrown out. It has Dual Xeons 5345's @ 2.33 Ghz Quads. It came with 16GB of Ram and 15k drives.

My question is, I would like to pick up a board that I can throw this all into and be able to put in a newer video card, preferably a mid to high end nvidia card in the 500 series to 600 series if possible.

Right now for cost wise I see HP has a xw6400 board and a 8000 series workstation board each with PCI-Express slots.

Would it be possible to run one of the previously mentioned cards in either of these boards?

Well HP Makes it but its intel Chipsets

the other options are an Asus workstation board and skulltrail both are near or more then $500 dollars

I do not need to run dual crossfire or SLI so I was hoping to use one of these boards which are much much cheeper

I prefer ASUS personally... Well supermicro really but that will probably be wayyy out of your budget...

If you can put it up go for the ASUS WS.

yeah i used that config once, on an oem worstation xw6400 with dual xenons(i cant remember which ones but they were better than 5345s), no probs at all.

Money isnt really an issue I can pay whatever for the boards I just prefer not too as I do not really have a tone of time to game so something like a 560Ti or whatever future 600 series version of that card would be more then enough for me. I play the new star wars and League of legends with maybe the new SC2 and Diablo in the future.

@Pr3d4t0r are you saying it is possible to run the type of card I stated with this type of configuration.

Those are the two boards. I would like the 8400 as it has the ram slots needed to use all my ram for a total of 16GB

$359 on NewEgg.

Might be worth looking around the recycle firms for use mobos of the HP or Dell variety.

Watch the pricing tho. Just keep in mind how much a z77+cpu combo costs and don't go over.
