How to paint and edge, a different colour ?

Not sure if this is in the right section, but here goes.

I've just bought an E22 fan grill, but would like to spray, the inside edge of the design a different colour to the main surface of the grill. Is there any tips or special advise any more experienced people can give ?

Masking and lots of it.

doesn't necessarily need lots of masking, just on the front face around the outside of the cut holes, then place on piece of paper on a flat surface and spray from the back one colour, then the front the other colour, or just get a paintbrush out, but make sure to lift off the paper as soon as you have sprayed else you will run the risk of paint bleeding through (this is if you are impatient, else do the above and mask off properly)

This is also a very good solid idea, but I still prefer a nice patient quality masking.

I have tried it in the past but with no success, while spraying the back side and inner edges I left it a little too long and it bled through . I have also sprayed the inner edge colour first then sprayed the face, after it dried just polished the edge with a dremel until I could see the colour beneath.

Yeah I think its a matter of practise. Everyone has their own way.

I was also thinking of the mask one side and paper on the underside. I wish I had bought Plastdip now, it would Of made life a whole lot easier, but that £15 price tag scared me..

I do a metric BUTT TON of modding to please take note.

For this you want to mask off everything apart from the inside edge, Paint it with engine enamel paint, Let it dry for around 2 hours and then bake it, Yes bake it in the oven for 1 hour at a medium heat, Leave it to cool for around an hour and then paint the rest of the fan grill but this time DO NOT mask off the area you painted.

The reason I say to not mask it off is once you have painted the rest of the fan grill you can simply wipe the area you previously painted with a cloth because the baking procedure will of made the paint very "Shiny and smooth" meaning the new paint will simply wipe off.

Clean it up a little, Leave it to dry for 2 hours and again bake it for 1 hour at a medium heat.
