How to connect Sabaj A4 and EDIFIER C2XD 2.1

Hello dear forum members, I need your help

Today I unpacked my early christmas gift and run into troubles connecting my old Sabaj A4 with new Edifier C2XD 2.1 . Previously I had Sabaj running from USB port on motherboard (Ggigabyte aorus7 Z270 with integrated SB card) into dac box, then out into basic logitec speakers with single cable that came with them. However this method doesnt work with new Edifiers. No matter how I try to connect them via Sabaj, no sound at all comes out. Speakers and sub work fine, running them atm via pc directly.

Ways I tried to connect it
- optic from mobo into sabaj, then from sabaj coax into Edifier
- optic from mobo into sabaj, then from sabaj aux into edifier
- optic from mobo into sabaj, then from sabaj headphone port into edifier
- usb from mobo into sabaj, then from sabaj coax into Edifier
- usb from mobo into sabaj, then from sabaj aux into edifier
- usb from mobo into sabaj, then from sabaj headphone port into edifier
- USB from mobo into sabaj, then optic into edifier

As far as I know, sabaj amp/dac should go first, so I did not try to connect first edifier amp and then sabaj. Is it correct? Any ideas how should I connect them? I know Edifiers alone are plenty enough but since Sabaj is perfectly fine I dont want to get rid of it.

A DAC is a digital to analogue converter. If something has a digital and or coaxial input it has a DAC in it.

Firstly you do not need both items. In fact, I think you are confused.

I did a bit of looking and the Edifier C2XD is a speaker system with an amplifier included. This.

Which it appears also has some form of DAC.

Denoted by the coaxial input. The other input is for an already converted analogue signal. However, like I said, the fact that it has a digital input means there is a DAC inside the Edifier's amplifier. Which is confusing because you basically have exactly the same thing in the Sabaj.

Unless you start hacking the speakers themselves apart you can not use the Edifier speakers with the Sabaj, and you can't use both amplifiers.

The Sabaj is made to be used with bookshelf and unpowered speakers as a desktop amplifier. But the Edifier comes with basically the same thing.

@alienALX I was under assumption that I can amplify/improve sound further when connecting those 2, hence my confusion. Even their amazon page says C2 come with aplifier, and since Sabaj is AMP/Dac combo, I thought they would fit in togheter. Oh well, I guess Ill either sell sabaj or leave it waiting for some other use for home pc etc

I don't know how the Edifier speakers connect to the amplifier that comes with them.

It may be the case that the Sabaj has a better DAC in it, I don't know. Whether you would hear that difference on speakers? I doubt it. DACs make a much bigger diffrence where you can study it better, IE on headphones.

You could return the speakers of course and then buy some real speakers. What I mean is, not computer speakers which are always rubbish compared to the real thing. Something like Elac, or Quad, or JBL etc. Unpowered speakers that will connect to the Sabaj directly to take advantage of its features and more importantly, amplifier.
