How often do you get "the itch"

I just built my latest PC almost exactly 3 months ago, and I already am itching for someone to call me and tell me they need me to build them a PC, or for me to get the money to build another one. Even if the system isn't for me I just love building PCs, what about you guys though? How often do you get that itch to build a PC.

when i had my pc i think i changed cases 5 times or something just so i could rebuild it changed pretty much everything atleast once and i only had it 8 months lmao

I want change something all the time and mess about with whatever hardware, I'm itching to do some case modding of some sort.

Yeah every time I have a friend that says they want a new PC I jump on that opportunity, I have also build PCs for some small businesses and stuff. Every chance I get I take it hah, also that picture PERFECTLY shows my feeling about it. Lol

I'm always getting ideas for scratch-built case designs, but neither have the time or funds to implement

Oh a couple of times a year, but normally a course of penicillin does the trick

Usually I'm fairly satisfied with my self-built rigs. For example my Q6600 lasted me thee and a half years, at least three years of that at 3.6ghz.

During that time it had three GPUs (8800GT, GTX 275 and a GTX 570) it had it ram doubled from 4gb to 8gb, had its Freezer Pro cooler replaced by a Titan Fenrir and, finally, went from Windows XP Pro, through to Vista and finally Windows 7. So, a gradual progression of upgrades throughout it's life.

My "whim" purchase of a Sandy B. bundle has been a little different so far:

Motherboard changed from an MSI G45 (problems problems) to the far superior ASUS P8Z68-V Pro - old board RMA'd due to numerous faults and issues. Antec Kuhler retained but better push/pull fans added. PSU upgraded from CM GX650w to a Corsair HX750w. 2nd GTX 570 added.

Currently I'm slowly planning out migrating the lot to a TJ07 case and water cooling it all - that's going to be a longer-term project however. I might end up with a Sandy Bridge E before it's finished lol.

In the interim with these two main builds however I've upgraded my gateway (old gamer) built a media PC, built a spare backup box from and old AMD 4200+, re-cased an old old Sony Viao P4 3.4HT system as a spare spare and build a basic box for my mum to use...so I've kept busy enough that the itch hasn't bothered me too often

* Evidently because I'm keeping it regularly scratched

Maybe, "why you no give me stuffs for FREE!"

Heh, when it's MY money I'm bloody careful what I buy...usually! Still, this is where overclocking helps, I mean, if I'd left my Q6600 at the stock 2.4ghz it would have become old a lot sooner

I'm a c# .net person, though too long spent supporting legacy asp.net 1.1 apps written in Visual Basic has corrupted me...oh, that and having my own team in India to do the coding for me of course. It's funny, I'm technically a Web Developer but my development skills are far from current really.

In my role the soft skills are actually more important that the developer skills and, traditionally, I spend a lot of time speaking to customers, understanding their needs and suggesting solutions.

Oh yeah, Ruthless, I'm sufficiently old that the last computer my parents bought me was a Spectrum 48k, and the last Game came on tape! Yikes! Lol.

S_I_N: Damn *scratch* stop that! It's *scratch* catching...
