How much do aesthetics mean?

So I'm building a new PC soon I'm wondering if I should spend some extra getting something that looks nice. I've never been one who really cares about what things look like (in general not just PCs) so I'm wondering if I'll regret the choice if I choose to spend more for how it looks. It's just when you look online and see some really clean builds you can only wish for one yourself.

So here's what I propose:
(on the right side you'll see what the aesthetically pleasing version is although it also better performing)

CPU: 3570k
CPU cooling: Noctua NH-D14/H100 with corsair SP fans
SSD: Crucial M4 128gb
Mobo: MSI Z77A-G45
HDD: WD 500GB Caviar Blue Hard Drive
GPU: MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition
PSU: Corsair HX650 v2/ Corsair AX650 (correct me if I'm wrong but it has slightly better looking cables)
RAM: Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz HyperX
Case: Bitfenix shinobi (no window) / Bitfenix shinobi XL (with window) because I think I would dislike the vented window on the standard one.

Maybe you could recommend a good windowed case that would match my build for less?

So to make it look better + perform better I guess it would cost an extra £145ish so do you think it would be worth it for me. I understand it's a personal decision but would like some input. Worth it and why?

But I just think it would be nice to put the time into a nice build and to be able to look at it and say "I built that" (wow that sounds weird)
Even though I'll know I guess maybe it would be nice to build something that looks nice and performs well instead of just performing(yes I'm aware that is the main thing) but idk

If you have a window, aesthetics would be important if you'd ask me. Without a window, don't bother. But please do spend time on cable management, because it improves airflow when done good.

You could always replace the grilled window on the shinobi with a plain sheet of plexi, it wouldn't be that much work at all and you wouldn't have to do any cutting

+1 for that.

Are aesthetics important? Well, it's your rig so really; are aesthetics important TO YOU?
