how does dual psu work?

i have 2 780ti's on my rig with a 1000w psu although the recomended for those cards is 600w each, and i have another 800w psu sitting in my old abandoned rig doing nothing so is there anything i can use the psu for and work out on this situation?

Yeah.

Stop worrying.

Its 600w for the whole rig per card recommended not 600w per GPU.

Your system will be pulling about 700/750w MAX from the wall so youll be fine.

As Tom said, you have more than enough wattage and assuming it's not a crappy quality unit (Cooler Master are usually alright), you're going to be more than fine.
