ive just received some neon stringand havent a clue how to wire it up to a molex. Ive got the invertor which i know is necessary but the string is literally just the string with no attachments. Any help in how to do this would be appreciated
the one i have is a standard invertor with a single molex on one end and then 2 plug holes on the other end which are the same size as the one for my cold cathodes. Each plug socket has 2 small pins in it. I tried touching each end of the string to each of the 2 pins and it just made sparks. :O
It's because to create the neon glow it converts the electricity into low current and high voltage - thousands of volts sometimes, but low current. So don't worry, it shouldn't kill you! :O
If the string isn't lighting when you plug it in, it could mean that the string is faulty. Try and test another neon device other than the string, if you have any...
ok thanks for the tips, ive got 3 invertors and 2 sets of cold cathodes so will test them a bit later on. How can neon string be faulty? lol its just wire?!?!
