How do you mount Rad+Fans on underside of Case?

Hi guys

Lately I have been really frustrated in trying to figure out a proper way of mounting my two 120mm fans (Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm)onto my radiator(XSPC RS240), and then mounting the fans on the underside of my case.

The screws that come with the fans are useless since they are not long enough, and the long screws that come with the radiator simply fall through the available mounting holes in the case (Corsair 650D) because the heads of the screw are too small to stay put.

What sought of screw would I need that are long enough to go through the case - through the fan (both sides) - and just about screw onto the radiator but not too deep? (Preferably black)

This is actually very basic since I know many people have done this in their watercooled rigs, but its my first time and I am struggling. I thought the case would provide me with the adequate screws, but that is not the case.

You need, 6-32 screws with a length about 30mm depending on your rad, in google type in

Phobya 6-32 screws in the shopping section, these screws have big heads, so it should work for you

So just to clarify, these screws will be able to reach the radiator? good!

More to the point, its kind of odd don't you think that they don't bother to include manual guides representing which screws go with which components?

Almost all my components to date have came with little packs of screws but not a single manual explaining what they are for!

As a result I managed to tear one of the threads from my fan hole using a screw that was too thick.

I really appreciate it dude

No worries make sure the screw you get are not too long, generally 30mm length works for most rads just have to make sure there is clearance between were the screw fits in on the rad and the fins. Measure the gap there, add that onto 25mm (general fan width) which should give you a about 30mm , as is on my xspc rad

It would defo reach the rad, the main point is making sure it doesn't go in to far causing damage.

here is a pic of my RX360 inside the case with 6-32 x 1 1/4" with the fans. These are long enough you don't want to go any bigger unless you are adding a grill. I got mine at Home Depot in Canada, cost me something like $3 for 23 yeah I needed 24 but the pack came with 23 HEHE Had to get a second pack for the 1 screw. Hope this helps

pmsl nip down to b&Q get some self tappers for £1.00 don't waste your time on a named product that will cost you 10X the amount and then P&P on top your paying for the name not for what it does.. Screws cost penny's not bloody Pounds.
