How do i move a game?

Hello. I would like to know how to move a game and it's save data to a different computer. Do i just copy the game folder from the my programs folder and paste it elsewhere? Im not sure how this works.

It's the same as moving a file around. All you have to do is have a memory stick/external hard drive that's large enough.

Hmm so how should i go about this then? Maybe just reinstall the game where i want it and copy the save data over? .... Wherever that's saved.

Simply copying game files can sometimes work but most of the time it doesnt, just re-install the game where you want it and then copy thesave data

The only time you can really move games around and they still work is when they are hacked illegal copies.

When you install a game it will add a registry entry that points to the location you installed it to. Move it and it won't work.

Yeah i though it would have installed things elsewhere.
Where do you typically find the save data?

you reinstall the game on the other computer and then c&p the savedata into the same directory it was originally. as said before, save data can often be in your documents folder.

My documents folder is empty. The game is Crysis 2.

C / Users / "Me" / Saved Games

Ok well i just replaced my Crysis 2 save folder after a fresh install with the old one and it's not detected in the game.

Anyone know how i do this? I still have the "old" install up and running so i haven't lost anything.

Did you copy the whole folder? should look like previously \Saved Games\Crysis 2, and it should work

No i had no luck. I'll try again incase i did something wrong. :S

Turns out the contents didn't get copied over. All working now.
