How do I improve contact on MACH2

Guys,

For those who don't know I have a Mach2 sitting on top of my Winchester CPU on a DFI LP SLI-DR MOBO.

Overclock is great: 276x11 @ 1.65v, LDT @ highest voltage (1.5v) and Chipset at 1.8v.

The problem I am tryin to understand is that my temps are -53 on the head with -18 or -20 on the CPU using speedfan 4.21 or as shown in BIOS.

The second I run superpi or 3dmark the temps on the CPU go up as high as +4 degrees in about 2 seconds

I stripped it down thinking condensation but found it war dry as a bone. The Artcic Ceramique was well distributed with a nice square print where the head was seated.

So just to be sure I cleaned the head and re-installed using a thin coating of ceramique on both parts.

Fired it up again and exactly the same problem, the head drops from 53 to 45degrees (after about 15mins).

OK so I know I put a few extra washers on the bolts thinking that would improve the contact, my question is:

To improve Head/CPU contact, should I be adding washers or taking washers away?

Your thoughts.

Cheers

Have about 8 or so washers on the screws I find increases downforce and will screw down before it bottoms out.

Made a big diff on my Mach I and then did the same on Mach II and Mach II GT and never had any problems

I'm just using one or two washers... Would it improve my temps if I added a few, as it wasnt clear in the instructions whether to add any!

I'm running a P4 on an IC7-MAX3 if anyone knows?! I hear that the MAX3's always read high anyway? Just wondering whether it would help?

so when i put my mach2 on next time (currently awaiting release of venice core cause winnie doesnt like the cold) should the screw be tightend on ALL the way? or just enough till its tight?

Upgraded to 8 washers on each bolt - temps improved 2degrees underload :D

My Winchester (wk50 2004) runs well supercooled, had some problems with 1/25 and 2/18 BIOS but 201 and 310p work great - try changeing your BIOS to either of those should be better.

Thanks for the advice.
