Looking to go mini-itx, with modern, cooler and more efficient hardware for gaming and general use! I need some help with what I've chosen and also suggestions for what I haven't!

So far decided

Bitfenix Prodigy Black
H100 corsair cooler (can get at a decent price)
Asus P8Z77-I Deluxe Motherboard

And that's it! lol!

I want a modular PSU with sexual platinum efficiency.
Decent SSD suggestion

But I already have storage sorted. I also have a CX430 psu brand new in box I could use until I find the need for a posh one I suppose. As for budget, I don't like spending extra unless I have to or its worth it. So I won't be going i7, I was thinking i5.

Corsair is coming out with some new, platinum efficiency PSUs that are full modular. AX760, AX860, and they have "i" models too that offer some other features. Seasonic just released their version of the same thing too if you want to look at those.

May have to sacrifice the platinum efficiency, but get a Silverstone Strider with the short cable kit - they're perfect for the Prodigy

Sheet the bed! Those platinum psus are pricey :P

but then again....7 years warranty!

Yeah dude, price you gotta pay for platinum these days. Honestly though the difference between the Gold rating and Platinum rating isn't that much, I think you should just go with an AX750 or some other, cheaper model like the Strider.

Probably take the AX just for the 7 year warranty!

I can't see the "i" series being worth it for me, as the AX is probably already one hell of a psu. Cheers for the SSD recommendation. CPU...hmm whats that i5 everyone recommends nowadays...i5 3750 or something?

I want something the equivalent to the q6600, something I can keep for years, get a good overclock and be the best bang for buck (or £££)

Its for gaming and re-encoding films

+1 If you're purchasing ram for gaming you won't require more than 1600 mhz.

For benching etc you'll see a diffrence but not in normal usage.

Progress!

Ordered a 3570
Those corsair fans on special offer at aria today only (for the h100 to keep it quiet)
H100 - special price
Bitfenix prodigy black
AX 760w psu
and a crucial m4 128gb

So far :D

I think I shall! It would be wrong to.

I'm still running my asus maximus rampage :)
Its amazing how much tech moves on. Really looking forward to having a smaller form factor pc, even mid towers don't do it for me anymore

asus maximus rampage? this board is not exsisting - rampage and maximus are total different product series.

sorry my bad - confused as its a maximus formula but ive modded it to a rampage formula lol!
