HIS 7970 Custom Cooling

Hey guys!

Even though my 7970 has already a quite quiet fan, it is still too loud. Already minimized the rpm with MSI Afterburner.

Now I tried something:

Temps stay @ 900RPM and constant RPM under 65°C and it is not able to hear the fans.

If you say, that this will not damage the Card because the VRAM and Powerconverters a covered with the heatsink (The HIS IceQ one) I would order a PWM adapter and two Noctua NF-F12 and would use this setup.

What do you think?

If the temps are ok then your fine to continue like that, check your vrm temps also,

I have done something similiar with my 7950 -

Removed plastic shroud and put 2 120mm fans blowing up on the vrm's

Done :)

Its super silent and cool :) =) wohooo!

PS: VRM Temps stay @ 24°C ? Is this a error? The Temps do not change. Is GPU-Z not able to read these correctly out?

Noctuas.
Noctuas everywhere.

xPP

Still quite a clever idea, and my old 6850 could use something like this, the thing's a jet under load.
Only downside is it has a flower style heatsink, so this wouldn't really work x.x
