High temps whilst gaming?

So after about an hour or so of game play(borderlands 2)every now and then the screen will freeze, then both monitors will go off, then on,then back to the desktop, and then back into the game.It will be ok for a while and then it happens again.I have core temp running on my second monitor, and it seems to always start at around 54 deg, then the temps jump between 54/58 with the max being 62,Although that is rare.My rig is a Lian li pc7fn,i5 3570,Sapphire hd 7850.Cooling 140mm front intake/140mm exhaust/120mm case bottom blowing up/120mm intake under exhaust, and for the cpu I have a prolimatech low profile with a 120mm.All dust filters and any dusting is done on a weekly basis,as my flat is really dusty, and it is on the opposite side of the room to any radiators, next to the hall with no heating.Could it be down to my cooler just being pants,I am in the market for a new one one christmas is out of the way and deliveries are back to normal,Either the Phanteks ph-yc14pe or the silver arrow. No idea what is going on with the font?

Lol at the font thing.

Uhm, have you tried re-applying the TIM? (Thermal compound)

Also, at those temps, I don't see really below 60 degrees a threat to overheating. It is high, but that cooler isn't wonderful either, so...

Personally I think that it isn't an overheating problem. Usually if the CPU is running hot the game will crash entirely. Usually if that doesn't happen, the computer will shut itself down. However at the temperatures you have listed, it doesn't look like you are running hot enough for that, unless you've been tweaking in the BIOS or Core temp.

Anyway, I don't think its a heat problem unless something you haven't described in the post is happening as well.

Everything is running at stock .The only other thing I didn't mention was it happens at the same point in the game, whenever I am at a vending machine buying/selling stuff.I couldn't even tell you if it only happens whilst playing Borderlands 2,it's the only game I play for any amount of time.

I use MSI Afterburner with HWiNFO to monitor my temps while gaming, but as said, doesn't look like an overheating problem, personally anything below 70, I wouldn't worry. Does this happen only with Borderlands or other games as well?

I think that's a no brainer, looks like a problem with your game.

As for the tim I could give it a go,but probably not needed it has only been on there for about 5-6 months and up untill 3 weeks ago hardly used for gaming just the usual browsing and such. What makes me think temps is up until,2 days ago it was next to my living room rad and window, and that is when it started but when i had the window open it stopped.I also have afterburner running but nothing out of the ordinary there either.I have just installed CPUID It looks a bit more comprehensive I'll give that a try.If it isn't the temps any ideas on what it could be?I have just realised is that the gpu fan never goes over 20%,I'll set it to manual and give that a whirl

Try another game, from what you described, if it's happening at the same time in the game, I'd say it's the game.

That was my next idea.Borderlands 1 lol,It's the only game I can handle for a long stretch, new to pc gaming it's all a big learning curve,I'm getting nowhere with darksiders 2 I can't get the hang of a keyboard and mouse yet:(

You can use a console controller on a PC, it's a bit more complex setting up a wireless one like PS3, but something like a PS2 controller is a piece of cake, just buy a ps2 to usb adapter, plugs right in.

Well I googled around a bit, I can't find anything really about Borderlands 2 having a freezing problem involving in-game menu's / using a vendor. I'd go with if it's a Steam game, Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files and then click 'Verify Integrity of Game Cache' if its not a Steam game. Back up your game save files and Re-install the game.

I use a wired xbox controller for 1st/3rd person shooters,I don't think that will ever change. It feels like second nature to me now.But I thought it was about time I changed game styles,I've spent the last few days playing the God of war trilogy right through on ps3 with a few of the boys,so I treated myself to Darksiders 2 keyboard and mouse.I'm just going to do an hour or so a day till I get the hang of it,it just feels wrong at the mo.

It is a fresh instal,as of yesterday,I bought a new 256g samsung ssd for games, ill give the steam thing a go though.

Ok, so you are having an issues. I'd say, check them temps! See the graphic card's temp. Your CPU also gets pretty unusually warm for the game you are plying. Tweak your computer's CPU cooler so it spins faster as the temp rises, or get another one that performs well. Keep your computer dust free ( it can cause heat buildup, therefore instability ). Watch your graphic card's temp... again, your not playing the most CPU/GPU intensive game, and if the issues happens in the same place the game might require more graphical resources which can cause the GPU to overheat and not comunicate with the driver for a sec or even just crash.

If that's not what causing the issue, must be a software issue. Disable the start-up of any program/utility that you don't use and can run in the background, reinstall your graphics card driver, update if necesary.
