Hey buddies. Help please?

Yes I assumed so. If I enable XMP I can still set the timings, frequencies & voltages manually with XMP on........but it causes a lot of problems so i would rather keep in disabled yeah thanks.......Just thought I could play around with my RAM timings more?

You can certainly try playing with the settings to achieve tighter timings/a higher frequency. There's no harm in trying as long as you don't push the voltage too high or change a setting without knowing what it does.

Try disabling XMP and setting your ram up manually with the numbers on the ram sticks .
How are you overclocking , manually or with the overclocking button on the board ?

Hey mate. I am manually overclocking all my settings. I am not using the OC Genie button on my mobo. A this stage my RAM settings are set to standard specs manually with XMP disabled.........
2400mhz
10 12 12 31
1.65V (1.648V)

Just thought someone could advise me to use some better RAM Timings maybe or is it best keeping it at standard specs?

You guys wont believe what happened today. I put my pc on and as it starts up in Windows the monitor started flickering and showing white lines accross the monitor. I pressed the reset button and Windows started up fine. I played a game or 2 and restarted my pc.

Now all of a sudden i get a black screen with a boot manager error..........i entered the bios and the pc does not even recognise my OCZ SSD in the bios. I removed the drive and tried it in my other pc and also it doesnt recognise the drive. I also tried the SSD in one of my buddies pc and his pc also does not recognise the drive.

The fact remains i will never in my life buy OCZ again. This drive i installed about a week ago. Ive just had bad luck with my rig since i build it myself.........but i will contact my supplier again tommorow and sort it out with them. Thought i would just share it with you guys............

Samsung 840 pro, Kingston HyperX 3k(the 240gb version is much faster than the 120gb), Crucial M500(m4 is older), Corsair Neutron GTX 240gb(fastest in the series), Plextor M5p, and a few others i just can't think of..

840 pro/GTX 240gb/M5P basically make up the top 3 of fastest ssds.

@Neverbackdown thank you for your reply.

You see i sit with a problem. My supplier would probably credit me for ky faulty drive but they wouldnt give my money back. And they only sell OCZ drives. So if i dont have a choice and my only option would be to take another OCZ then i was thinking of getting the 256gb Vertex 450 and no the 128gb again. I see the 256gb OCZnis also faster than the 128gb OCZ. I really want to buy another brand but if this is my only option then i have no other choice. I will contact them later and keep u guys posted.........

Why not shop somewhere else? Online? Or local store?

Yeah i can. But i will see what my supplier says because i dont think they will refund me. They will only give me a credit in other words then i am forced to buy something else in its place. Understand? But i will speam with them laters and come back to you u guys.......i really dont want another OCZ drive agai :(

Ask for a refund and tell them if not then you will never come back again and tell everyone you know they do bad business. Usually works if you don't show any sign of backing down(meaning your assertive) or a more calm approach would be to get the store credit(equal to what you spent) and get something you may want/need other than an ssd. Then shop around for an ssd online.

Yeah i would rather keep calm and see what they say. Maybe they understand. Thanks i will let you guys know what the outcome is........

I can't believe that's the only drives that the sell , you don't have any choice of brands of components that you can put in your system?
If I were you , I wouldn't have anything more to do with that builder/supplier .
As NBD says , check your local stores or check online.
I think after your done with this deal you should have enough knowledge that you can build one yourself and put whatever you want in your computer.

Hey buddy. Actually i built the whole rig myself and all parts fitted was my own decision. They just asked for my rig to do some tests and swap outs themselves as i dont stock any new parts and its saved me money from guessing the problem i had. So actually they did me a favour by doing all those tests on my rig for 5weeks. Haha but eventually i managed to solve the stuttering myself.

Reason why i decided to go with OCZ SSD is because my brother has the Vertex 4 (which i originally bought that was faulty from the beginning) and he has never had any problems with his SSD.

I spoke to my supplier this morning and it looks like i would not be able to get a refund, only a credit. Unfortunately they only do the OCZ drives. I have the OZC Vertex 450 128g now. What if i had to go for the OCZ Vertex 450 256gb and see if i have any luck with that drive? I know its still OCZ and i DONT WANT TO buy OCZ brand again. But i dont have the funds now to keep my credit hanging and to buy a dfferent brand from a different company............wish i had though.......

I really appreciate all of your replies. Thanks mates

They can also supply me the OCZ Vector range. But as I don't actually have any choice now, I will swap it out for OCZ Vertex 450 256gb and give it a try. If this drive also goes faulty then I will demand a refund.........Although I have to pay in a couple of bucks more to swap the 128gb for a 256gb. But it is ok. I don't mind......

In that case you mine as well "spend a couple more bucks" somewhere else and get a different brand. Honestly not worth the hassle to stay with something that has given you shit for over 5 weeks.

Sorry , I didn't mean to discredit you . From the sound of the posts on this thread it sounded like you had someone build it for you.
I wish you luck on the 256GB drive , I hope it works for you.

Just an FYI for you, I have been running OCZ Vertex4 256GB SSDs in my Alienware M17x-R4 laptop (which I use for gaming as well as general Internet use) for the past 8 months without issue. Am also running other Vertex4 SSDs in other machines also without problems for the last year or so.

How does that help him? Lol if anything you're rubbing it in has face^_^
