Hey buddies. Help please?

Photobucket.com works good for me , It's free , create an account and download your image there , then copy image url using the inset image tab on the forums.

Ok I got it right. Can you please have a look at my images and see if you agree with me that my SSD is faulty buddy? Thank you

Here are the benchmark results of my OCZ Vertex 450 SSD with some tests at the bottom done by Guru3D and Tweaktown:

I don't have much experience with ssd's , but your seq. read/write speeds seem a bit low, maybe someone else can give you some feedback on that.

Your speeds are low even with AHCI mode enabled.. Faulty SSD. OCZ has the highest failure rate among ssds. Get a different brand dude.

Hi There,

If you have any bandwidth prioritisation program running try disabling it. I know it seems crazy but the one that was supplied with my MSI Mobo caused my gfx cards to stutter... I found out which program it was by benching them and gradually exiting all the stuff I had running.

Cheers,
Ulijin

Hey there. Thank you for the information. I will keep it in mind. Thank you

I appreciate your input. Thank you. I will def get myself a different brand. Any suggestions which brand to get? I was maybe considering getting the Kingston HyperX.......i have my doubts with the Corsair SSD's as well..........

I have a kingston HyperX 3k 120gb as my OS ssd and a Corsair Neutron GTX 240gb as my other SSD. Both are very fast... The Kingston has lower write speeds(noticeable when transferring large files) but both are solid. Other brands are Samsung, Crucial, Intel.

Before you go out and buy a new SSD. Check to make sure that the SSD is plugged into a SATA 6Gb/s port since it looks like it's in a 3Gb/s port to me. Also I think it's time to name and shame this supplier since they have proven to be absolutely useless. What should have taken maybe an afternoon to fix has taken weeks and I would personally be looking for some sort of compensation if it was me, especially since you effectively had to do the job for them.

Hey mate. Yes i know it is acting as if its not plugged into the 6gb port haha. But I made sure and def it is. You see it is hair raising that my supplier couldnt even pick up the problem themselves. My supplier sent the rig to their main office as well. There they diagnosed and said my GPU is faulty and swapped it out for me. The rig came back 5weeks later and the problem was still there. I asked them to send me my old GPU back again as i wasnt happy with the new GPU and my GPU according to me is working 100% fine......they swapped my 1st faulty SSD which was the Vertex 4 for a Vertex 450. The pc ran fine for atleast 1 week as smoothly and without stuttering as never seen before.

After a week my pc started slowing down and crashing in games like CS and BF3. So bad that i have to press the reset button to startup again. If i play the games now the little part that it does not crash, i see extreme stuttering and some parts are so bad that you can even see frame skipping too. So I will contact my supplier again on Monday. Ive never had so many issues with a newly built rig ever before........

I know it seems daft asking this but do you have TRIM running as well on the SSD? You say the problem has been coming back after time, it could have something to do with it.

That said I'd still switch SSD to a different brand, the new samsung 840 EVO series is out, Corsair intel, crucial and kingston also do good ones.

That's a good thing to check Spiderz , I thought since he had someone build it for him they would know to enable trim.
I thought windows 7 default was to have trim enabled .

You might also check in the bios that your sata is set to AHCI.
That's the problem when you have someone else build a system for you , you hope they know what their doing and set it up correctly.

You were right. I asumed and did not remove the one side of my case to check whether my SSD is plugged into the 6GB/s Sata port........IT WASN'T. I plugged it into Sata port 1 which is the 6GB/s one and man there is a big difference in the AS SSD benchmark......My supplier originally had it plugged into the wrong port :(.........See my new test results above:

So, is there any other improvement after changing the SATA ports (apart from the increase in read and write speeds)? You said your games were suffering previously. Is this still the case or haven't you tested yet?

To come back to the stuttering problem. I also managed to solve that. I am running the following RAM:

2 x 8gb G.Skill Trident X F3-2400C10D-16GTX

CL10-12-12-31 (Standard spec timing rates)

I entered my BIOS, I had XMP enabled and manually set my timings to standard spec as stated with a manual Dram voltage set to 1.648V..........also manually set my RAM frequencies to 2400 MHZ.........

I decided to keep all my OC settings the same as well as my RAM settings, except for the XMP. I disabled it to see if it makes any difference in my games. Wow and was I amazed :D........The stuttering went away completely and my pc is running so smooth without crashing in my games. PROBLEM SOLVED!

My RAM is NOT happy with XMP enabled. Really can't tell why? I also tried enabling it again, then the stuttering comes back and my pc crashes in games as well. I have done some research on XMP and apparently for the OC RAM you have to have it set to "enable"........but i am confused as it doesn't work for my rig.

As stated my RAM timings i have manually set to standard specs (CL10-12-12-31) 1.648V............

Do you guys think the settings of my RAM should be adjusted as well or should I keep the ratings of the timings @standard specs?

I just want to say THANK YOU to all who tried helping me out with my rig. You oaks are awesome :D

Hey bro. Thanks for you interest. You can read my last post :) And YES there is a huge difference in the read speads. It use to be Seq: 262mb/s.............

Stick with the manual settings if that fixes the problem. XMP usually dials in the correct settings for RAM, but if it isn't working for you, you might as well leave it.

Hey buddy. Yes I have done the SSD test to see if TRIM is activated. And yes it is........thank you

Yes I assumed so. If I enable XMP I can still set the timings, frequencies & voltages manually with XMP on........but it causes a lot of problems so i would rather keep it disabled yeah thanks.......Just thought I could play around with my RAM timings more?
