hey everyone

i have come across a problem when ever im on the computer, the computer randomly shuts down, then when i go to turn it back on it turns on for like 3 secs and turns of and i have to wait about 15mins for it 2 start up again... i quickly thought it was a heat issue with my cpu... as whenever it reaches around 90degrees it restarts so i suspect... i took it to a computer shop and he clearly convinced me that it wasn't over heating issues and that a computer can run fine at " 700 degrees " i didn't believe him and he said when the computer does overheat it doesn't restart it justs " freezes" ...i conducted my own test and placed a normal fan u use in the house and it never restarted...has anyone ever had the same problem and what do you guys think it is...is he just trying to rip me of and he also said that it could be software issues ??? any help is much appreciated and once again thanks over clock 3d:worship: :worship: :worship: ..

90oc is WAY WAY to hot.

Not only does thermal throttling kick in at about 65oc slowing your PC down to a crawl, but many processors arn't designed to operate that hot.

Get a new cooler for your machine or re-seat your existing one before you kill your processor.

re-seating would be taking off the heatsink, renewing the thermal paste and putting the HS back on nice and tight

ahh ill just get the guy 2 do it... and as fOr good ventilation yer i got a normal case it usually runs all perfect no issues with over heating at all until now!

Jesus I wouldn't let anyone anywhere near my PC that mentioned anything about 700*C!!

lol get rid of all the dust (this actually works, did it on my old computer and it dropped the temperatures down quite a bit) and try reseating as mentioned, if you are still runnin hot then buy something like the Scythe Infinity as Kemp suggested.

hey guys it turned out to be dust... there was a sh*****t load of it ! so yer though id give the heads up for anyone else who encounters the problem btw th guy tried to rip my dad of saying to charge him $88 for cleaning the dust when at the start he said it was " software" problems and my dad said it you told us it was dust we would have cleaned it ourself... and then my dad threated to take him to the fair trading commision that solved the problem :D!

thanks guys!

Congratulations, you have just experienced the classic symptoms of what heat does to a PC. You're running a Prescott CPU too, aren't you? They were notoriously hot!!! Heat issues are fun...component gets too hot - shuts down; after being given time to cool down they play nice again.
