both have hdmi on them i a correct in assumign that ati chipsets do audio via hdmi ??

As far as I know HDMI streams audio and video via the one cable. Not sure about the hdmi port on your motherboard I take it that is run by an onboard graphics chip?

If so it should provide video and audio via the HDMI cable.
