I Need suggestion for a backup, for large audio files. Looking around 3-4TB, just wondering how it could be best implemented. Raid 1 or 5+ or 10 would be nice. Just wondering if I I should just build a computer for it or an multi external NAS box. Plz any suggestions would help. Also if so get 1TB's or 750g or 500g. This is for work so there is not really a budget. Reliability is the main key.

I wld Suggest RAID 5 --- or for the ultimate A Solaris server using ZFS (an insanely redundant scheme)

the most economical way to get 1 TB is 2x500Gs @ ~ £110

so if u raid 5 it and require 4TB Real Storage + Parity u will need ~5TB/10 500Gs @ round £550 for the disks alone & ~ £20 for each additional 4port sata cards

Build it as u need it using ZFS on solaris or Nexenta is the most economical and safest solution

Read the ZFS blurb @ Wiki [Here]
