Help choosing ISP!

Hey guys, going back off to uni in a few weeks and I've got a dilemma. I need an ISP!

I have IDNet(love the special deal XD) but problem is in the uni house, we will need a uncapped service with no fair useage policy. As theres 5 of us sharing the house, even 30 gig wouldn't last long.

So basically what i'm trying to ask, is:

Can you recommend a decent ISP, which has no bandwidth cap and no fair useage policy?

I am moving to UKFSN as they sound like a cracking company, I spoke to them on the phone at 2pm on a weekday and it took 2 rings to answer. They dont offer a unlimited service but use no fair usage policy aslong as you stay within your usage for that month.

Check them out as they class weekends as off peak as they are a reseller of a business broadband isp. The package I am getting is 30gb peak time usage (weekdays 8am till 10pm) and 300gb off peak usage (weekdays 10pm till 8am & from friday 10pm till monday 8am). That package is £19.99 per month upto 8mb and only a 1 month contract.

By mind I think I could sell broadband as a living :rollingla

Just noticed they do 2mb unlimited for £35.24 p/m and this will be a totally unlimited service. Totally depends how much bandwidth you need mate.
 
Ask us as well, we just got rights for a ISP service as well ;-) Not sure of the pricing structures just yet, its not the cheapest but I know that all the lads in teh office use us and we get nice low ping rates as well

How would I go about asking specialtech? =P

Looks like I've still got quite a while to decide... BT said they cant reconnect our phone line in the student house till the 11th of october.

I asked IDnet if it would be possible for them to do us a special no-cap deal but simon came back with a no =(

The Ukfsn deal looks okay... we would be able to stick to those limits if we cut down our daytime usage, they have really odd peak and offpeak hours. Nothing like normal phone peak and offpeak! Virgin also have a similar deal going, but half price for 3 months(min 3 month contract)

Sooo any more advice or suggestions?

Yeah but they won't hook him up with a custom plan since they will have 5 people using the connection, 30gb cap is definately not enough. Hyper is lovin his Ukfsn AFAIK, u might check that out.
 
Yea i've checked them up a little, it's just impossible to tell how long they are gonna be around... I was going to go with blueleaf as they had some nice deals... before they dissapeared that is lol.

Yea I would love to stick with IDNet if i could but 30gig just aint enough for 5 people!
 
Ask IDNet to spec you up a custom plan maybe? They are pretty flexible and may be able to help you out. You can only ask.
 
30gb should be enough for 5 people, what exactly do you plan to do!

as long as you arent downloading gigs of media constantly, then 30gb will be more than enough.
 
i use like 10gb max and i game heavily (unfortunatley i aint 1337) i download music and films (legally of course)
 
XMS - I have already asked IDNet and they said they can't as bandwidth is what costs all the money.... but i didn't mention im a sysxtreme member but i didn't think that'd make too much diff....

30gig is not enough for the people that will be living in our house, we all use a fair amount of bandwidth(especially the anime freak! 10 episodes would generally be like 1.7gig) and im a ign founders club member so im always downloading stuff from file planet =P
