Hey guys.
I just joined the forums. I dropped by and was shocked that I never did register. I been following the reviews for years, weirdly I never took the time to register it seems. Anyways, I wanted to say hello and hope to get to know a few of you.
Before you guys start jumping around. Yes I'm an enthusiast, and I build computers which are way too overkill, but I'm starting to find a cure by reasoning... It's catching on slowly though. It's a little more than a year back when I build the rig I still use today (which was a little changed since then).
Since it was perfect back then (at least in my mind) I'd like to show it off a little with a few pictures:
Back then I had a Surround setup and for the 6160x1080 (gaming resolution) I actually benefited greatly from 3x GTX480s + GTX460 for PhysX. I wanted to get a different PhysX card but I couldn't fit it. The 460 I could with with the waterblock so I went with that. It may seem like a total waste to put a PhysX card in there, but it actually wasn't that stupid. The 480s would only have 1.5 GB VRAM which would disappear quite quickly with that resolution, and in PhysX game the PhysX card would make the VRAM usage drop by about 500MB.
But as I was saying. I've been coming to my senses. I dropped the Surround setup as it was using too much room and bought a 27" Dell UltraSharp U2711 with 2560x1440 instead. Because of the smaller resolution all the GPU power was way overkill and I started selling one card after another. In the end I replaced the single GTX480 which remained with a PowerColor 7970 LCS which I use now.
I can add a few pictures later in the topic if people are at all interested how it looks like now.
Either way I'm hoping to meet a couple enthusiasts here to have fun talking with.
P.S.: I suppose I'll be able to edit my profile with a certain post count. That avatar bothers me a bit. Anybody care to enlighten me how many posts I need?
