Heatsink help 2500k

Hi, as I have now ordered the first parts of my new machine, for the meantime it will need to be air cooled. I am now wondering which heatsink will be the best?

Mobo:

P67 Sabertooth

CPU:

i5 2500k - will be overclock3d.

Case:

Not decided, but full tower.

I have had a couple of coolers in the past, and the Noctua was a very good cooler! Got my Q6600 @ over 3.4 with low temps.

All I've read today is mixed views about the heatsinks and people constantly worrying about size, surely size doesn't matter (

Hope you can help.

Thank you!

The 2500K doesn't run that hot unless you're planning on a big oc. D14, Silver Arrow, Phanteks, Dark Rock Pro/Advanced, H100 - all would easily cool a 2500K.

Noctua NH-D14 very similar to my first Noctua cooler, NH-U12P.

I do plan on overclocking it as much as possible

Thank you for the suggestions so far!

Yeh i'd suggest something like an NH-D14, Silver Arrow or an H100 but its do do with personal prefference aswell cos if you don't like it then you'll hate having it lol

I tottaly forgot about that one, add that to your list lol

I love the fact that you have a range of colours to select from rather than just your standard looking heatsinks

Hi,

I went for the Antec Kuhler 620, it's a closed loop water block. Works quite well, I'm currently at 4.6ghz and generally stay in the low 50's during gaming and the uber stress-test that is IBT sees me hit low 70's...Prime 95 usually a little less.

I chose the Kuhler because I had the Corsair Vengeance ram, which is very high-profile and a normal cooler would not have fit well. Something to be aware of in your cooler/ram choice. IF my ram had been shorter I'd have gone for the NH-D14 or Silver Arrow most likely.

Cheers,

Scoob.
