Headset or headphones?

I'm in desperate need for some advice. I have been looking for a headset or a pair of headphones for the past 2 weeks, and I just cannot make up my mind.

I really enjoy music, and I want my headset/headphones to have a really great sound quality with a very good and deep bass. I cannot stress this enough. Basically, I'm looking for a headset that offers me very good sound quality for music and a very good bass. My problem is, it sort of HAS to be a headset, since I also like to play computer games such as HoN and talk to skype. That I do every day aswell while listening to music. BUT most people claim that getting a pair of headphones with a clip-on mic such as the Zalman microphone would be a very good choice, since you get a lot higher sound quality and a decent mic for the same price.

So, my question to you is:

Does anyone know a headset that has a very good sound quality for music? Or should I really get a pair of headphones with a clip-on mic even though it seems very annoying?

Thanks!

Best models for you to consider:

- steel series siberia v2

okayish for music and great for games

- beats by dre

very bassy but not the best for voice and games

- sennheiser hd 280 pro (my headphones)

very high frequency range and excellent for rock music and decent drum n bass/ bassy dance music, pretty good in games too, replacable cushions/ padding, coiled cable and highly portable

- roccat kave

great for surround sound and comes with mic (can't remember if is detatchable or not) seems to be a fairly good headset

hope that helps

I think I might have put it in the wrong way. My headset is supposed to be for music only, since I don't need any special sound for gaming as I do not play FPS games. It has to have great sound quality for music and music only. I do not really care about the sound it has for gaming, since I dont need to know where the enemies are coming from (cus I dont play FPS bla bla). A high quality headset for music is what I'm looking for. My problem is that most ppl say that getting headphones + clip-on mic is better for that, but I have had bad experience with clip-on mics, and since I do use Skype and Ventrilo a lot, I dont want this to become an issue.

Try a desktop microphone then? I'm not a audiophile so can't really help you. Although Sennheiser's are supposed to be the best.

but arent desktop mics like rly poor? the people u are talking with can hear everything in ur room n stuff, since it'll notice every little noise in the room?

As with all products there are cheap tacky ones and expensive top quality ones. you can get a decent mic for i'd say ~£30 onwards. yes with desktop mics you do hear more background crap but i suppose the advantage is you can go get something from other side of the room without having to keep taking headphones on and off, but i'm sure you can find some noise cancelling mics with like only couple metres range

ok, so if I were to get a pair of headphones and a desktop mic. What do you guys recommend? And remember, headphones have to have good sound quality and a good bass for music + the mic has to be a good one, since I dont want ppl on skype to be able to hear what's going on in the background ^^

Edit: I dont wanna spend much more than 200 dollars in total for the set (headphones + mic)

Personally I would go for Sennheiser 555; great for music without breaking the bank. When it comes to the mic, you could do what I do, which is use my old headset and wrap it around my neck and just use it for the mic, so you save some money and don't need to worry about picking up too much ambient noise.

EDIT: Although you may look a bit goofy wearing both headphones and a headset

Err, I'd prefer getting a desktop mic instead then

So Sennheiser hd 280 pro or a Sennheiser 555, with a Logitech USB Desktop Mic? I can't really offer you too much advice on the mic, since I don't personally have one, but apparently it's noise cancelling
