Headset Choice

Hey guys and gals! Managed to get some cash together for a good headset. Preferably under £60.I'd also appreciate a 3.50m+ wire as I'd like to listen to stuff from bed. I'm using an X58 Sabertooth which has a Realtek® ALC892 8-Channel onboard soundcard and I really don't want to get an extra one because I'll deep-fry my graphics cards due to limited space. So, any ideas? So far I've been looking at the SpeedLink Medusa NX, both the USB and normal connections, and the Creative Fatal1ty HS-980 as my top two choices. I'd love it if you could reply quickly as I'm a bit rushed into it however I'd still like to make the best choice possible.

Ahh that price, Razer Carcharias, Steelseries Siberia V2, Tritton AX Pro 51 or Corsair HS1. In that order. *Note I'm bit of a Razer fanboy these days*

I tested the Siberia V2 aswell. The Siberia is by far one of the if not the most comfortable headsets I have ever used. A friend gave me his to test for three days, so I could decide on what headset to get, because I desperately need one aswell. The sound quality is good, although it is heavily aimed at gaming, which suprised me because most gaming headset do tend to be unsuitable for listening to music. I still would tell you to find a way to test your headset of choice before actually buying it, because everybody is different when it comes to what is comfortable and the like.

Just a heads up, you are not going to find a very good head set for that price. save a little more (maybe 100) and you will have far more options available to you with much better quality. but if you HAVE to only spend that then i would go with what was reccomended above, Razer Carcharias.

Have you ever looked at the "Skullcandy" range ? I recentley bought some for the wife and the sound quality (bass response) is very good. I must admit that they were about £80 (I know it's over the budget) but like a psu for your pc, never go cheap on headphones it doesn't pay.

If you do consider these just post it, and I'll find out the model number.

Thats more like "not so flat frequency range" imo.

I have Creative Fatal1ty HS-1000 headset here wich broke down already since the build quality is horrible. There's no support for the wire that goes into the cup so pretty much if u pull it, u will tear it apart inside. I havnt pulled mine but over timed my right channel cable broke down. They feel comfortable tho. Go with Steelseries.

Edit: At first i loved the headset tho. The drivers and firmware seem to be crap too. There was something wrong with pitch sometimes wich started going up and down. Havnt used creative drivers anymore, its running by some default drivers windows has packed in. Works alot better that way.

Ok, thanks. I have a mate with a Siberia - his mic is broken and I don't find it comfortable whatsoever as my head is angular and fewdged up

Got the Medusas and they work fabulously for what I need. Thanks a lot (again)!
