HDMI to Reciever

As of right now I have HDMI-RECIEVER-1080P~60hz led tv..

My reciever does an output of 1080i, but I believe my tv is upscaling to 1080p because that's what is says its running...

Question is= I'm building a new pc that will have a motherboard with hdmi output on it.. Could I attach the motherboard output to the reciever for my 5.1 SRS theatre system. Then attach the HDMI output from my video card directly to my tv for true 1080p... In theory this sounds like it would work, has anyone tried this?

it will work, but im 100% sure you will need to play with the sound, im sure doing it this way introduced delayed audio

any chance we can get some model numbers to your equipment? should be able to help more

My recievers htr 640 onkyo
I'll be running it on a MSI m-power Z77 and a 79xx series video card... i doubt delay will be an issue, i couldn't see it happening with digital transfer rate.
