Sorry first up for not posting links but was just reading that Samsung drives are now Seagate drives as they have teamed up and that Hitachi drives are now Western Digital as they have now teamed up, so that now means for Disk drives you now only have a choice of two companies. Damn what is happening to competition? So do you think this is a good thing or bad? Would like to know your opinions.

Maybe with the recent floods they want to consolidate their loses, or spread their risk?

Could be never really thought about it that way. I just thought it was big company buys little company till only two left standing...... and then their was one?

I find it a bit meh that Western Digital bought out Hitachi, they made quality Hard drives for less than WD, glad i bought 3 Hitachi 1TB drives just before the flooding

In my opinion i find it a odd that the biggest hard drive company (Western Digital) can merge with the second largest (Hitachi) to become one firm, wouldn't that go under monopoly rules?
