HD7950 and Skyrim issues

I've got a Sapphire 7950 oc and it's great apart from Skyrim. The net is littered with possible fixes, but none seem to work. The game just freezes after a few seconds of play. I'm running catalyst 12.4 drivers, but from the web it seems the last few versions have all had skyrim issues of one sort or another. Anyone out there with a similar card running ok with Skyrim? If so what drivers, etc are you using?

I'm running teh card stock on this game, so it's not any overclocking issue.

Edit: Just removed old drivers, ran driver sweeper, reinstalled, still the same!

Is this the 1st step of regret of buying an AMD card....?

This doesn't happen to my 7950, maybe it's a problem with another part of the rig or maybe even a faulty card?

If you go back to a driver that worked then maybe it will sort it?

Ive just built a rig for someone with the windforce 7950 in it and had a bit of a play on skyrim and it worked fine, that was overclocked too and I think using catalyst 12.3 the rest of the system was 3570k, gigabyte z77x-d3H, samsung 830, 8 gb of muchkin blackline @ 1600 MHz. Are you using any mods for skyrim?

In the Playback tab, right click on Speakers (or whatever has a green tick next to it), then click Properties

In the advanced tab on this new window, select 24 bit, 44100Hz (Studio Quality) in the drop down menu

this fixed it for me, it sounds weird but it did, if it doesnt then we have different issue[/font]

Seems to be the shadows that are causing the issue. I've tried increasing all the graphics levels bit by bit. I can turn them all up to Ultra/highest settings apart from the shadows. I have to back the shadows back to High setting from Ultra. After searching about it a little more on the web, seems to be a popular problem.

have you got the high res texture packs installed.

Install the 4GB usage patcher

Back up tesV.exe then patch using the patcher.
