HD / H.264 on a Via board?

Via boards look good for HTPC purposes, because they have hardware decoding acceleration built in. However, the only software that supports it is a modified mplayer on Linux, and even then it's not clear if it will decode 1080p H.264 okay.

I currently use XBOX Media Centre which is excellent. Plays everything standard definition, boots in under 10 seconds, cheap etc. No HD though, cos it's only a Celery 750...

Has anyone actually managed to build a HTPC with a Via board, that is capable of HDTV/HD-DVD/Blu-Ray playback?

Not sure how man Via boarded HTPC owners we have here.... What are the specs on the machine ur putting together, and which board is it exactly?

I have a EN12000-EG board, 1.2GHz. It is supposed to have hardware H.264 decoding but there is no support on Windows. Apparently MythTV can be made to support it, but the LiveCD I tried was useless.
