The Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2+ Media Player. Quick Review.

With quite a flooded market of quick plug and play media players it's quite difficult to find one that pretty much reads any file format and this is why I chose the Cyclone Micro 2+, our television is already capable of reading AVIs, MPG4 directly via USB with the slight issue that we are limited to 720p and it only reads video files which are coded with MP3 audio, while this is quite dated the TV is still fantastic and replacing it would be pointless and unnecessarily costly.

So I searched and decided to pull the plug on this "tiny" little wonder box at only £22, and it really is a wonder that something so small can play any media you throw at it, simply dump your chosen media to USB stick, external HDD or SD card and it will run it and even scales perfectly to 1080p. I have yet to discover a format it refuses to recognize or play. Now I found this media player for only £22, they do retail at £31.99 so shop around and you'll no doubt find them cheaper ;)

So here I'll show you what you get and I'll admit for very little money.

The box shows as usual all the information you need to know about the media player, most importantly the file formats it supports and detailed specification.

The user interface is all levels of simple even a toddler could navigate it and be away with Dora the explorer in no time at all.

Conclusion.
So in conclusion I have to say I'm very impressed with the Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2+ and the possibilities when using this go quite far, I have used this on 3 televisions and even via the HDMI on my PC monitor so the option is there should you not want your rig running to watch a movie or listen to some tunes, also the portability it would be perfect if you're on the road and you want to watch your own stuff, on the coach, train or even hotel.

So it's light, small, low voltage, 1080p and plays any media file format... so what's not to like? we'll only 2 things in reality, the remote control has a dark blue font printed on a black remote!? that is annoying and frustrating in low light situations like when watching a film and your straining your eyes looking for a button. The last thing that would have made this product 10/10 would have been the inclusion of a HDMI lead, all that taken in to consideration I give the Sumvision Cyclone Micro 2+ a firm 9/10

Price - 10/10
Performance - 10/10
Overall - 9/10

i got one of these after having the first cylone which impressed me and the 2 was even better,i would defo reccomend them too,to anyone who wants a media play on the budget

Nice write up. Is the remote IR? If so you could control it with your Smartphone (depending on the model).or a learning remote. If it isn't IR then this would be great just taped onto the back of the TV near the other inputs and completely out of the way.
For 22 quid (which is about $60 here) it's a bargain.

Only question I have is how does it go with Cinavia audio protection? Not that I'm advocating or questioning where the .mkv content may come from..

Yes the remote is IR and I can control the player with my HP Pocket PC too ;) we have our player velcroed to the back of the TV, as for Cinavia I honestly couldn't tell you, personally I've had no issue with any .MKV files I just use ConvertX and throw them on a USB drive, even the Digital Mad Max copy I got through Steam is perfectly fine.

Yeah I've only come across a couple when my Blu Ray player will stop audio after 20 mins. It's a digital copyright thing and I think most of the larger manufacturers have signed up to it. I still have the disc but they're stored away and I just run them off the hard drive (I can't plex them as I have no network yet - the building is in the process of being connected)

Anyways - nice write up. I'll have to see if they're available here.
