Hi guys

My fiancee currently has a decent pentium 4 3.4ghz processor.

im just wondering weither the processor would bottleneck either the hd 4830 or an 8800gt - 9800 gt (maybe the AMP addition) graphics cards

Also she has 1 sata hdd, 3gb ddr2 800mhz memory. what powersupply would you reccomend for these cards?

shes not overclocking btw :D cheers :):rocker::rocker::rocker:

Stick in a 8800GT and enjoy it tbh.

We could be picky about having 3g in the pc which is slowing ur memory :p

But being as that's not being looked into - get a 8800GT - or tbh an el-cheapo 8800GTS if u can find em.

Bottleneck - schmottleneck imo.

Bottlenecks are silly. If you're gpu wasn't bottlenecked by the cpu, then the gpu must be bottlenecking the cpu.. bah

Exactly my thought.

And yeah just as Rasta has said, 8800GT/GTS.

Wasn't some store selling the GTS 256m or something for like £30 or something silly a while back ?

(they'll be gone by now I'm sure)

Corsair 520w for about £60 quid dude and an 8800gt, still a great card AND more importantly you can get it folding when shes not on it too ;)

Agree totally here, i run a corsair 650tx in my system and my gpu is the hd4890, corsair are normally rock solid when it comes to psu`s and a single 12v rail has plenty of amps for the 520 corsair, though i think this one is modular which is more ££ than a 650tx??

I can imagine the system now:

P4 3.4 (no oc)

8800GT (no oc)

1g / 2g memory (stock)

1 hard drive ??

1 optical dvd-esq

Oem esq mobo or a classic.

.. probably in a smart case, almost oem style.

I'd use a quality 400w in it and oc. If I'm not going to oc.. 350, with a badged 365/385 peak, np.

lol funny enough i wa at work yesterday (im an it technician) we were aksed to clear out this old building of old stuff. i found an antec 500w psu and a nice case. so thats saved me £50 for a new psu :D:D:D:D
