I told myself I wouldn't, that I would wait for the next refresh, but that all sounds very exciting, I hope i've finished my build before the Rampage V's start to make an appearance otherwise i'm going to get wanting feelings. It's also making me think hard about getting a 4930k, too many decisions! but I like my motherboard and memory too much to discard them now. :frown:
s'a shame they didn't 8-core the XX30K SKU here, would have been a nice middle-of-the-road point really. I don't think I could possibly justify the expense of the 8-core SKU this time around. I was planning to skip the 49XX series and pickup an 8 core one of these but I think I'll pass now. *shrug*

Thing is they aren't, at least not to me.. they're just giving the 30k series a bit of a limp in the hope you'll pay double the price to get 2 more cores...
P.S. Are you changing the prices in the review? the table is now different to what it was a sec ago and to the supporting text?

The 8 core Haswell-E SKU is the "Beta" to see how it does, Much like the first 6 core SKU that was an extreme edition, The chipset after that i.e 3930K was a 6 core and in the mainstream.
The mainstream 8 core SKU will come with Broadwell-E probably.
