Hard Drive Failing

Hello, I am receiving S.M.A.R.T. status bad backup and replace error.

Ive read around and everywhere said "Hard disk drive is bad or is going to fail soon."

I bought the drive from Aria 13 months ago but the drive has a three year warranty. What do you think? I will have to wait until the drive fails before returning to Aria. I have backed up all my important files. Should I use my PC for the time being?

Also Since I have windows 7 on the hard drive, If i get a new drive. I will have to get a new copy of Windows 7?

if you have the key for windows 7 then you won't have to buy a new copy.

Probably is your drive, but might be your SATA controller or southbridge that's faulty. How long have you had the motherboard and drive for?

Shouldn't be anything wrong with either of them then. Does the drive show any actual signs of performance degradation or is it just drive analysis utilities reporting the bad health?

Nope the drive's performance is fine, Its just the error after the MSI screen that says it ( S.M.A.R.T. status bad backup and replace error. F1 to continue) push F1 and it will go straight to windows.

Can you not turn off warnings in BIOS? Because there might not actually be anything wrong with it

Not sure, I am going to run Seagate tools (Works with all brands of HDD's) to find out if there is any error. Speedfan says "Possible handing damage" even though the drive hasn't been touched in 13 months and the PC has never moved.

Well if someone told you your car was damaged and there wasn't a scratch on it you'd just keep on driving it

I suppose so. I will let the drive soldier on and if it fails i will send it back to Aria as it has a three year warranty.

Not like you had any other choice in the first place
