GTX 880 + 880Ti To Be Cheaper Than Current Gen ! :D

According to the German site PC Games And Hardware the next single GPU flagships from Nvidia will not only be more powerful *That's a given I know* but they will also be cheaper than current gen flagships i.e 780 and 780 Ti due to the manufacturing process.

And according to Chinese sources, Which is mainly where these GPU's are made, The 880 will be accompanied by the 880 Ti which will be the true single GPU flagship of the 800 series.

Weather these will be 28nm or 20nm is still pure speculation as Nvidia is being tight with details as usual.

Can only be a good thing

I wonder what Nvidia's idea of cheaper is though :p
They said the same thing about the 5xx and 6xx series but it never worked out that way.

If they are 20nm the GPUs will be cheaper to make (well more like they can make more for less) but whether Nvidia actually charge less is a different story. Until we see prices from Nvidia themselves we wont wont know what they are going to cost.

I doubt they will be much or any cheaper TBH, Nvidia will be selling it for as much as they can.

Even if it can be manufactured for cheaper than previous generation products, that only means higher profits until there is some competition to drive the prices down. Just look at how many price cuts there were for the first 28nm cards

I will be skipping that gen anyway and go for the 9xx series.

nVidia "Our new generation single GPU's will be cheaper than the current gen... Titans and Titan Z's"

I'm remaining hopeful, Maybe Nvidia will prove us wrong, I know they are a business and need to make as much money as possible short of drawing blood from it's customers but just 1 generation where the flag ship can be at a normal price point would be a good thing.

I hope so. Im borderline needing a GPU upgrade now with some of these newer games being really demanding and pushing my GTX670 to its limits and this kinda makes me want to wait. AMD has been spanking Nvidia in pricing for a while especially lately on the high end. The R9 290x is faster than a GTX780 but costs $20-40 less. Hell it even comes close to the GTX780 Ti in some games but costs nearly $200 less. Nvidia has been in need of a price shift for a while now and I could see them coming out cheaper with the 800 series and then maybe dropping the existing 700 prices. That would put them more in line with AMD and really fire up the GPU competition market which would be awesome!

I will more than likely skip the 800 series and just grab some 980's or 980Ti's dependent on what the performance and cost etc is between, Nvidia and AMD is like at the time I actually need to upgrade my cards.
