GeForce GTX 880 Really Does Have 8GB Of Memory

Brilliant...

That's just 1 site, I looked at multiple sites and I saw the results I posted earlier, Bearing mind the results I posted were the maximum VRAM used in certain instances.

BF4 actually uses 3.2gb of vram @4K maxed on Titan GPUs and Crysis 3 maxed uses about 4.5gb

Interesting thanks for the input Mr Kaap, I wonder how the other sites did their tests.

In any case it will be interesting to see what the VRAM increase will be like over the coming generations.

If this means the 880 will cost £900 then F*** it. Just release a 4gb version and do an 8gb for epeen later on.

They'll probably do what they did with the Titan/7xx series, Release a power house of a card costing a fortune, Then release a card that has the high performance compute function disabled etc etc....

I wouldn't get too bothered about the amount of vram at the moment. The GPU is still where it counts - two SLI'd Titans struggle with returning meaningful frame rates at 4k, even in a game like ANNO 2070.

Why the heck are you people even talking about BF4 and Crysis 3, who wants to play those games on a monitor with 8ms delay.
8GB vram are just as irrelevant as 4k for at least another 2-3 years.

We're not talking about input lag and delay though bud, We're talking about VRAM usage and Crysis 3 and BF4 are some of the top users at the moment and that's why they are mentioned.

Anyway the Samsung U28D590 28" 4K has a 1ms response time ;)

And the AOC U2868PQU 28" 4K has a 1ms response time too -

The price on both those monitors means they are not irrelevant as they are within the same price range as some 1440P/1600P panels.

Do you really think 9xx will be that much of a leap up? As nice as this sounds, I think I'll be waiting for that.

I am updating my GPU as soon as I update my three year old CPU and motherboard. Theres no point in upgrading my GTX680 on the current hardware I have now. I really hope that NVidia dont price the GTX8xxx series GPU's too high though.

You just know nVidia's naming scheme for 1xxx is gonna be 1K or something like that, 1King or like 1K1 or 1K2 or even just K1 lol

1K4K "The number 1 4K gaming solution, brought to you at 2.5x the price of the AMD solution" lol
