What should I go for after my birthday which is 17th of Jan, 2 x GTX 570 or 2 x 6970? And what kind of "brand" should I get? (EVGA, XFX, Sapphire, etc.) Thanks

I would check out some reviews online for the SLI or XF and see what results are achieved for the games you want to play, brand depends on what solution you go for. EVGA are best for warranty but that would mean 2 x 570's.

Personally if it was me id go 6970's over the 570's

Cost efficient + less power consumption with good performance

I dont think there would be much diff between 6950CF vs 6970CF so maybe picking up some 6950's would be a good idea

Also if you did choose to go the 6950 route I'd recommend the MSI 6950 OC Twin FrozR III's, with some good case cooling those things never get too hot. My card never goes over 56° and sits at 34° idle

If you are looking for performance and don't mind paying a premium then get the MSI twin Frozr III GTX 570. That is what I am running atm and it dominates everything I have thrown at it.

I'll take a look.

I do love the Twin Frozr coolers... But the price difference between a couple of Twin Frozr III 570's and a couple of Twin Frozr III 6950's ain't that big.

I'm leaning towards a couple of Twin Frozr III GTX 570s... I want to try out Nvidia as well, I've only used ATI/AMD so far. When I got the money I'll go with the flow and take what speaks the loudest to me I think and right now that's the Twin Frozr III GTX 570.

If it was my own money (and ears) Id be buying GTX570's.

Just make sure your mobo has 3 slots between the cards. 2 for the card itself and one more to allow the top card to breathe

Go with the 6970's for brand get Sapphire.

They scale better than 570's, lower power comsumption, & are better for higher resolutions/multiple monitors.

hmmm strange snce when did AMD leafblowers start consuming less power???? I'd go 570's all the way and never look back

Something I've come to learn on the internet is that the 6000 series from ATI are much louder. I personaly have a GTX 570 from EVGA and it is very quite. If you're looking to OC it then go with the twin frozer from MSI as it has much better cooling. If you're looking for a solid card out of the box evga as it comes with a life time warranty. Definately go with Nvidia.

I have just gone SLI and while I cannot comment on crossfire with the latest ATI cards, SLI GTX 570 is 'THE BOMB'. You need to do it!
