Hello guys! So I just finished building my friends new rig, as payment he gave me his PNY GTX 570 as payment. I just installed it and all seemed well till I started my first game (Far cry 3) and a soon as it was done loading the screen went black and audio looped and then it rebooted. I tried various other games to have the same thing happen. I tried upping the voltage to no avail. Even minecraft caused it to reboot. Im also sure its not the PSU as I can run two 8800 gts cards in sli just fine. Any Ideas?

Nvidia's docs say for a 570 you need a 12v rail capable of 38A, do you have this? Note that if you have an older multi-rail PSU, TWO PCIe power connectors from separate 20A rails (40A total) would be fine. As RadeonHDx says though, knowing you PSU will help a lot. In fact, your complete system specs would be useful.
Also, in case something has glitched, do a "clean install" of the latest NV WHQL drivers (it's an install option) also, as a sanity check ONLY install the core driver (cannot unselect this) and PhysX. Things like the build-in audio, auto update etc. have been know to cause problems.

Hmm, very odd. Sounds like a very unhappy GTX 570 there! My Inno3d GTX 570 became unstable, but only in very demanding games such as Crysis 2. Generally it was fine, so it's going into my Gateway PC now replacing my old 8800GT.
Not sure what the problem is here, if you get slight instabilities, a minor vCore bump on the GPU can often do the trick - but you've tried that. Can I suggest that you leave GPU vCore at stock, but under-clock the card to say 700mhz, down from default 732. Also, you could try dropping the vRam speeds a little too. This might help you identify what's going on.
Can you confirm what sort of temps the 570 is seeing? Usually I see around 15 or so degrees over ambient when the card it as idle. Under load (on air cooler) it usually just breaks into the 70's.

That's probably best if you still have warranty remaining as you shouldn't have problems like this. Did you friend not report any problems with the card at all?

Well he didnt report any about the graphics, just about the whole system, his lan dies then his audio and so forth, that system was just a hunk of junk. Will pny let me rma it even if im not the one who bought it? He baught it in march 2011. I believe pny is a 3 year warranty. so that leaves me about 1 year of warranty left.

Dunno, he could possibly RMA it for you as you're mates. Did he remember to register or whatever PNY require you to do? Failing that, who did he buy it from? Some stores insist you go to them for RMA - as your UK legal rights suggest you should - however EVGA explicitly tell you to come directly to them.

No, no water block or anything like that. Thats way above his head. It still has the warranty stickers on it. He buaght it from Newegg. PNYs website says the first year has to go through a retailer then the next 2 years is through them. Worst case ill have to have him do it.

Maybe best to let him initiate it, just in case they do get funny as you're the second owner. Often warranties are not transferable to the 2nd owner, so be careful. Really, just let him do it as if it's still his card. Sure, it might be a little hassle for him, but you did help the dude out so fair's fair.

Actually I just decided to try folding@home gpu to see if it could handle that and it can. It pegs to 100% and starts squealing really load but doesn't bsod. The temp never goes above 60 degrees though.
My buddy tried to rma it today. They said no. Even though the card is marked lifetime warranty and there website says 2 years, they told him it was only a one year warranty and that they cant do anything because its out of warranty =[. what a bunch of bull crap! Ill never buy PNY again and neither will he.

I could have told you that myself. PNY's idea of a lifetime warranty (in the small print) merely translates to "Lifetime of the card in production" which in this day and age is about ten minutes.
PNY, XFX Sapphire and others can duck my sick tbh. I'd rather lop off a limb than buy from any of them.
Ok so my buddy said since they wouldnt replace it, try and oven bake it. I did and to my surprise it kind of works now.... by kinda it will play a couple games, far cry 3, crysis 2 and 3 but cant play hawken or anything elese. Tried upping the voltage but nothing. Maybe I should try a different bios?

So, for the record, we're saying here that PNY do NOT honour their warranties - basically, PNY have NO FAITH in their products and do not give a crap if they break. Nice. Glad I've never had any of their kit - nor will I. If this happened to me (In the UK) I'd be getting legal advice right now. In the EU "Lifetime" warranty means 10 years - strange but true - so I'd expect as much.
Glad baking worked for you, still, you shouldn't have had to do that at all.
Hmm, Crysis 2 & 3 are pretty demanding titles, I don't know about Hawken though & would be surprised if it places the same load as C2/3.

I had the same problem,random crashes,bsod,lan disconnecting,audio distortion.First i thought memory problem but check and fine so i had a little search and found this fix.Type "services" in search bar>when the services (local) tab comes up scroll down till you get to NVIDIA Display Driver Services>disable and close.
Since doing that a fortnight ago i havent had a single problem and my pc is running fine again

I LOVED my Palit GTX 570. It was the cheapest (£250) and I bought it the week it launched. To this day it's still the best overclocking and the lowest vCore of ANY GTX 570 I've had since - I've had three in all. It died due to a compression fitting failure sadly...the failure the ropey Inno3d GTX 570 survived - well, it didn't get dripped on.
So yeah, I really like Palit and would buy their stuff again based on my experience with that first GTX 570.
