We take our first look at the new DDR4 RAM, and with a base speed of 3000MHz, we're expecting big things in the future.

I'm getting very excited now about X99, even though I'll not get the chance to play with it.

Goodness, Tom's "loft of dreams" must be worth a lot these days. That kit alone is near worth £400.

The contacts are in the middle bigger than on the side, anyone knows why?

It's the way the new Dimm slots are designed, the new Dominators are exactly the same.

X99 = Exciting times ahead. :)

EDIT: Madden it's black ;) it's just the way the light is reflecting.

Shame that early adapter prices always are sky-high. Like the looks of them and can't wait to see some actual reviews :)

So thats the one thats going in Orca? :D

I'm also extremely curious about the one you said is going to be finding a home in Orca.

I'm assuming it'll be something like the R4BE equivalent for X99.

I'm also assuming Asus are waiting till i52 to do all their unveiling as we've seen a fair bit from MSI and Gigabyte but not a thing from Asus yet.

They have something epic that they wanted to keep quiet

15-15-15-35
almost twice the latency at less than twice the hertz
they really do need to figure out this latency issue.
if they could drop that down to 10-10-10-30 i bet it would be a huge difference. (although i guess 15-15-15 isnt that bad. but im not a huge fan of "35")
but that is a lot of hertz lol.
just wondering when amd will jump on this. id imagine they should make some FM2+ chips ddr4 compatible, as id imagine they would benefit the most from the extra speed, and they have no plans of moving away from that socket.
Wonder if they will move the memory controller on to the mother board for compatibility and cost effectiveness.

Spoken like a true n0000b that doesnt know timings are not important - BANDWIDTH is king

Timings have not really mattered since 1366 Socket

Why not Socket AM4 with DDR4? sounds good n'or?

always been a fan of low latency to be honest.
but il admit ddr2>ddr3 was the same but ddr3 is still much faster.

wasnt to sure if they were going ahead with am4.
I think am3+ is about done with. but i wasnt sure if they were just going to concentrate mostly on the fm2+ as they said they will be keeping it.

Sick!

You'll have to get your side kick to run a live announcements thread (assuming you'll be to busy to do such yourself) so those of us that live on the otherside of the world or those who just can't make it can still be part of the action and being able to discuss announcements as they come through.

And if things are as good from Asus as you say I dare say I'll be sporting X99 before the year is out.
