I currently have an old machine that is living in the garage I am looking to breath some new life into it I have be looking into getting a new case to transfer the contents of the old machine (it was a shop bought pc is about 7 years old) I was looking into getting a graphics card for the machine the motherboard is an ATX one it has a PCI-E slot would any PCI-E graphics card work I am not thinking of a GTX680 was thinking of a HD 5850 only £24 would it work or would it throttle the CPU?

Another option would be to get a fairly decent gpu (560/570/7850) and keep it as you upgrade the machine if you have any plans to do that...

After looking at the specs a 5450 for £25 is worth a go and i dont see their being a problem

Thanks for the advice after looking at the specs would swapping the mobo out and putting into a new ATX be ok you think??

I would like to say yes but i have had a problem in the past swapping hp mobo in to a new case i would say have a good look at the screws placement on the mobo and as long as they are standard then i dont see why not and just use the screws that come with the new case,
