Got myself a Corsair Obsidian Series 350D

I decided to change my case as the Silverstone FT03T actually looks kinda horrible. And the 350D looks so much sexier and has more room inside for water cooling which is great.

My question is would it be better to change my PSU as I have a Corsair TX850M which isn't fully modular and I have spare cables hiding behind the back plate because I can't remove them. Mainly SATA power and 5v molex cables and the 24pin and GPU power cables seem really stiff to bend and makes clean cable management really annoying.

Budget and specs please.

Will help us figure it out for you.. and honestly most cables that come with PSUs are all flat cables.. which are stiff and ugly.. aftermarket ones look far better and sexier as well.

My specs are:

M/Board: Asus Maximus IV Gene/GEN3
CPU: Intel core I7 2700K at 4.7Ghz
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro LP
GPU: EVGA Geforce 780 3GB SC with ACX
Soundcard: Soundblaster Recon3d PCI-e
OS drive: 120GB Corsair Force3 SSD
Data Drive: 1TB WD Caviar Black Edition
PSU: Corsair TX850M
Case: Corsair Obsidian 350D

Hopefully I will have around £500 to play with soon.
 
500pounds? All for a PSU? In that case grab a 650-750watt psu for the single 780(depends on overclocks). If you plan on SLI later on go for a 850watt. Then after buy some other cables that will look better than the plain flat black ones.
 
Yeah I was planning on getting a new PSU and some braided cable kit or something. My case looks a mess at the moment and I just discovered that my MB only has 5 Fan headers, but that's no biggie as I am planning on going for the Corsair H100i CPU cooler.

So my shopping list will be:

H100i with maybe 4 fans in a push/pull config?
A couple of 140mm fans for the front
Maybe change the rear fan, not sure yet.
850W PSU, fully modular and get braided cable kit.
 
With a budget like that i would try to get a real watercooling loop in there. Nothing fancy or over-the-top but something worth it's value.

If you don't want to SLI i would just go with a 650-750watt PSU and some extra cables.. You could buy a Corsair psu and then a cable kit for that psu model too.
 
I could show you a kit or two but if you really have no idea then best stick with an AIO cooler.

Me personally. AXi series of PSUs are worthless. Just go for a regular AX series psu. Saves money and just as good.
 
I would love to watercool my system and if done correctly, it could look really good.

I'll go for AX PSU then, thank you and this is what I mean about my SLI being restricted. It's a bit of a mess in there and people would probably shoot me for it lol.



 
Remember to get a 24-pin cable for your PSU! They are sold sepately, also the kit you linked is the wrong one technically... i'm not sure if it would work (the 24-pin definitely won't).

Just thought i'd give you a heads up before you cocked it up because I did! Thinking all AX's would be the same I can tell you an AX1200 kit absolutely doesn't work with an AX860 :)

I'm sure the AX760 will serve you well, I have two 780's with an AX860, last time I rebuilt I turned my PSU fan up TTL style and I have never seen it spin up yet! Not even running OCCT PSU burn test.

Thanks for the heads up, JR23. I will remember that, Once I get the PSU and the necessary cables, I will install the new PSU fan up, it's just annoying the stock cables are so annoying to try and manage.

There are so many things I need for this PC. I heard Sandy Bridge memory controllers really suck and only has PCIe 2.0 support. I will upgrade my MB and CPU and possibly RAM when I go watercooling then I won't be restricted to LP RAM only.
 
Little brother is nothing less beautiful than 750D and 900D.
You grab nicest mATX case available and hardware you choose is excellent.
