goodbye guys

dugdiamond

New member
some may be sad to hear this - others may be glad

while this forum has brought me alot of fun over the time i have been an active member, i think it is time that i stopped interacting with comments, and trying to give people advice.

i feel that some of my input falls on deaf ears

no-one, knows everything

too many people are too keen to help and think that posting material from other sites (googling) makes them seem clever. this is so easy to tell, as your grammar changes dramatically over various posts!!!

i am also sick and tired of how childish some members can be.

some members have been in the computer industry for a 1 or 2 years, or are still in education, and think they know it all.

this does not, IMHO, give a very good image for the forum.

it is with great respect for this site, that i 'bow out' with hope that those (you know who you are) stop their antics and drop their attitudes for the greater good of other members who frequent the forums.

thank you

Don't leave man! Screw those idiots we need members like you who are experienced and give proper opinions on stuff for the young ones like my self.

Aye leaving seems stupid to me aswell mate.

If people are posting and trying to help at least they are bothering, no matter how they find the info. Its all a part of how we all learn. If people post stuff thats blatantly wrong because they dont understand they just need to have it explained to them.

Cominity forums in my eyes should be like extended families, and you dont move house because your little brother is learning do you. You help him.

I learnt everything I know from forums like 3d, and I do mean everything. If everyone gave back what they had received then the forums would be an amazing place

At the end of the day this is a forum and not everyone is going to agree with you 100% of the time because everyone is different and everyone has a different opinion on things, you just have to except it and move on.

I do agree that posting stuff from other sites and Google links does get a bit annoying (IMHO anyway) but then again those people are not as knowledgeable as you and are only trying to help in the best way they know how. Some people are here to learn you can't knock someone for not knowing what you know and you yourself are not right all the time same with me and anyone else on here we all make mistakes.

TL;DR

Why can't we all just get along.

I've not been here long, but the help you've given ppl including me with the overclocking and stuff has been of great value.

If people choose not to listen it's on there back at the end of the day,and whilst people are copying and pasting from other sites, that in my opinion is all part of the learning process, while they research the problem.

Forums are for opinions, aswell as fact, and what makes the learning more fun.

I've been in the same sittuation with a clan forum i ran,but chose to ignore it,rather than get into slanging matches. If you know your right, just take pleasure in knowing that you are, much more satisfying imo.

lol mate welcome to the world of forums, never take any thing personal, never believe what you read 100%, all ways turn a blind eye to the idiot when they dig a grave, normally they dig it so much they just end up being shown the fool they are ect ect.

and my spelling all ways sucks even when i copy and paste pmsl but i dont care .... and ive been doing this since the spectrum days.

You'd be missed if you left you are after all one of the main contributors to the forums.

this is not true at all, really depends on how you stand towards forums... sometimes people forget little things and how other people react towards little lines on the display

dug, what you describe is how everyday life is. Some people you can't help. It's never going to stop here or anywhere for that matter, but I'd hate to see you go over it.

I know we've had our disagreements, but I really do hope you reconsider.

you can lead a horse to water mate...

if somebody doesnt want to hear what you have said there is no point wasting more time trying to convince then you know what they need so just leave them to it.

for what its worth dug i think you fit in well on here and it seems to me you have a laugh most of the time, you wont get on with everybody all the time so once you know who they are just dont go out of your way for them, you know.

At the end of the day, this is an online forum, if people want to help you want to encourage it rather than discourage it. Of course people are going to get things wrong, its as inevitable as the Sun rising, but as a community we are all there to help each other, and that includes correcting and teaching each other. After all, many different members here specialise in certain aspects of computers, whether it be particular hardware or software.

When it comes to software, there are often many different ways around things, and some things work just as well as others.

Don't agree with some of the second part of your post though, people aren't coming here to show off to everyone, they are helping eachother or trying to do so. And of course, this being the internet means you are going to get all sorts of people, whether it be young/old, male/female, UK-based or internationally-based.

Anyway, I don't think anybody is going to be glad to see an active forum member with lots of knowledge of PCs leave the forum. So stay

Tis a shame if you stay away Dug... You've given a lot in a short space of time on this forum.

It is appreciated. While you might feel your advice falls on deaf ears or it's not acknowledged, that is just the way it goes sometimes. I used to write news for this site and it was grim when you'd spend hours on news articles only for not a single person to comment. You have to remember that tons more people read these forums for info and never post so your advice is getting out there. However, good advice is also noticed by those who already know it in these forums. If you're not corrected then you can consider it good advice I reckon.
