Gigabyte GTX 580 SOC, OC Guru Problems

I have recently bought a Gigabyte GTX 580 and i have been using it with the drivers straight from Nvidia and it has been working perfectly.

Then once i installed the OC Guru software to tweek the settings i found that the software displays this error: GIGABYTE ERROR: initialize failed. Maybe you don't install the driver correctly !

First thing, nice to see the gigabyte guys have well formed english sentances for this £450 cards software.

Second how do i fix this. It maybe worth noting that i switched from an ati 6850, to do this i used driver sweeper and unintialled all software related to ati. i have tried removing all the nvidia software and drivers and the OC Guru and then re installing them. but i still have the same issue. Any ideas????

The MSI Afterburner utility works perfectly. not problems at all. confused as to why the guru wont work though.

I'm not sure either. I'm not sure if Gigabyte have the utility on their website. If they have, have you tried downloading it from the website rather than installing it from the CD?

Are you using Windows the 7th ? If so, be sure your uac is giving your account full control for installing software.

I've only seen 1 more instance on the internet of this happening and I *recall* the guy was using a 560.

Usually these sort of things happen when you download the driver from the web and use the utility off the cd. The driver is newer and the utility was programmed badly enough to just refuse going any further in attempting to use it. (using the driver off the cd, in this case, 'should' work)

At this point, and I know it isn't too helpful, but I'm guessing all the advice you'll get (assuming uac doesn't fix it) is to re-install the card driver, under custom install, install just the driver/physx and check-box the "perform a clean install". Sometimes this will goof-up the first time you run it cos the driver had a problem uninstalling - the next time it should work.

... not much help tho aye.
