Gigabyte 7970 oc waterblock compatibility

ive got the mentioned card (the one whit the blue PCB)
i was googeling for a bit but i dont see through this
has my version a reference PCB or not

does anybody have a watercooled card like this

It depends which version exactly you have.
According to cooling configurator, there are 2 Gigabyte cards with blue PCBs, neither are reference design - but one will allow the 7970 waterblock to be fitted, the other wont.
Do you have the model number? or link to where you bought it from?

according to the website its GV-R797OC-3GD
but ill dig out the box and see

If it turns out that your card is the GV-R797OC-3GD model, the EK 7970 block will fit aswell as any other 7970 ref. design based waterblock on the market.

Then its just a matter of personnal preference which brand you choose depending on the look of the block.

Unlucky.
I had similar issues a few days ago. Found someone to buy my old card and replaced it for another reference one.

At least if you do choose to do that, you have a 7970 with one of the best aftermarket coolers so it should hopefully sell alright. Then it shouldn't be too expensive to find a reference 7970.
